How Do You Talk to an Angel

Both agreed she was an angel. It was the only thing they shared in common. One called her angel. The other knew she was an angel ever since he first laid eyes on her.
Her voice, sharp as a barb, soft as silk, could make one wish they were not born, float on air, or walk through fire for her.
Her voice. Her face. Hearing her in his mind. Seeing her in his heart. He would have moved heaven and earth for her.
If only she ask.
Since he first laid eyes on her, words failed him on how to describe how he felt about her then, still feel about her now. Someone so fine, so wonderful, so intriguing.
Forced apart by the Centre, all he wanted was to hold her close, tell her she can finally rest, let her walls come down, feel safe with him guarding her, never letting anyone ever hurt her again.
But it was like catching a falling star. Proud of her survival skills, her ability to endure whatever the Centre chose to torment her with, she refused his help, his companionship, his love.
For now, he dreams of her at night, happy, carefree, with a smile shining like a beacon, something sweet to sweep away his ever-present nightmares. For now, he feels her in the air, her hovering presence a solace to his loneliness.
He picks up the only physical link left that keeps them connected. Always he wanted to tell her what his beating heart and tortured soul yearns to say but unable to.
He presses the number he knows by heart. Waiting for her to wake up. To savor the caress of her voice in his ear.

A/N: This drabble of a songfic was inspired by the Heights only hit "How Do You Talk to an Angel". I heard this song again on the radio a while back and decided to write a quick fic about our favorite couple.

For those of you wondering what happened to my other story "The Fall", a) I had writers block but am now writing again if fitfully, b) I burned myself out writing this unforeseen very long story, c) real life taking precedence, and d) addicted to reading other fanfic on plus a couple of other websites. I threw out my goal of a chapter a month. I don't know when the next chapter will be posted. Just hang in there. I will finish the story.
