Happy Mother's Day
Aerith hardly expected him to come and visit him anymore. After all, he had forgiven himself and that was what he wanted. What reason would he have to come to their flower field anymore?
"Hey, Aerith, you have a visitor!" Zack called, a large grin plastered over his face. She narrowed her eyes as she turned to him. She knew that grin. He was up to something. He jerked his thumb over his shoulder and she craned her neck to get a good look.
Surprise was hardly the word to describe her reaction.
"Cloud!" she cried happily, racing towards him and throwing her arms around his neck. When she pulled back, her eyes narrowed again at seeing his grin. She turned to face Zack again, who quickly averted his eyes and ran a hand through his hair.
"What's going on?" she asked, folding her arms and looking between them. Cloud responded first, bringing a small flower out of his pocket and handed it to her.
"Happy Mother's Day," he whispered and Aerith creased her brows together in confusion.
"I guess it's because he's fond of you!" Zack added with a wink and a look of understanding crossed her features.
"Mother?" Cloud whispered softly as a hand placed itself in his hair, soothing him.
"Again?" came a soft feminine voice. "What is it with people calling me mother these days?" she asked.
"It must be because they're fond of you," said a male, amusement clear in his voice. The female took a second to respond.
Aerith looked Cloud in the eyes and smiled. "I'm fond of this one too," she said, throwing her arms around him.
