Disclaimer: Obviously, I do not own ANY of the Harry Potter characters(although I wish I did). I just like to write about them

a/n: This is my first fanfic, so if you hate my story, don't be too harsh. Please review and tell me if you like my story or not. By the way, I don't know if there is a beach near the burrow, but that's how I always imagined it.

A Walk to Remember

Hermione got up, dusted herself up, and walked back off the beach. She climbed up the hill and back to the party in the Weasley's backyard. She leaned against the big oak tree, its leaves gently blowing in the wind.

Everybody seemed so happy, now that Voldemort was gone and the war was over. But something was missing, and she didn't know what.

She looked over to where Ginny was standing, whose head was thrown back, laughing at something that Seamus had said. Then she glanced over to where Harry was, surrounded by reporters, fans, and friends. Then she spotted Ron. He was standing almost directly across the yard from her, looking out at the water.

Hermione thought about what had happened the night before, during the battle. It was something that she had always dreamed of happening, but for some reason, she felt… almost… sad.

She had been so lost in thought, that she hadn't even notice that Ron was coming towards her.

"Hey," he said softly. He walked over to the tree and stood in front of her.

"Hello," she slowly replied, tucking a wisp of brown hair behind her ear.

"Listen… I um… I think we uh… need to talk."

"Of course." She looked down, waiting for him to talk.

"Oh, uh, I was hoping we could talk somewhere… else."

"Right."

It was quiet for a long time.

"We could go down to the beach," Hermione said, breaking the silence.

"Yeah, that sounds good." Hermione took a deep breath, and they both walked awkwardly down to the beach.

They arrived at the shore, and started heading down the beach.

After about five minutes of awkward silence, Ron said, "Before, when you kissed me… why did you do it?"

Hermione hadn't been able to look at him. She kept her eyes on the sandy beach floor. "I don't know. I guess I just felt like I might never have the opportunity to… well, to kiss you. And that we might not ever see each other again. So I just sort of…did it."

She couldn't look at him now, could she? She felt so stupid for saying all of those things. Now it would be obvious to him that she had feelings for him. And what if he didn't have the same feelings back?

"Oh." He stopped walking. He was rather surprised at what Hermione said. Did this mean she maybe had feelings for him?

Ron looked at her. She was so beautiful. A smile played on his lips. "Well, I don't know about you, but I'm glad you that you did... what you did."

Hermione finally looked into his eyes. She smiled at him. He smiled back.

Then he started to laugh. He laughed and laughed and laughed.

Hermione was surprised at his outburst. How could he laugh at at a time like this?

But then, all of a sudden, she started to laugh to. They laughed very had and were soon gasping for breath.

Ron started to chase Hermione up the beach. She started to run, but Ron was faster. He grabbed her around the waist. She laughed and turned to face him.

They looked into each others eyes. Everything was perfect. Voldemort was gone, they were done fighting, and the war was over.

Hermione smiled. Ron smiled back. Then, he leaned in and kissed her.

It was the perfect moment. But like all perfect moments, it had to end sometime.

They broke the kiss. Then they walked back up the hill, and into the start of a new beginning of their lives.

a/n: I know it's a cheesy ending, but its all I could think of at the time.
