Something Sweet

"Hey," Pyro said as he approached Rogue who was for some reason sitting at the bottom of a hill. "You having fun down there?"

"No," she called up. "I think I twisted my ankle," she said looking up at him.

Pyro slid down the hill and came to a stop beside Rogue and examined her injury. "I'd say it may even be broken."

"Dang," Rogue laid her head back in frustration.

"Here," Pyro said bending down in front of her.

"What?" Rogue asked looking at him oddly.

"Get on my back I'll carry you," he said holding his hands out.

"John that's so sweet thank you," Rogue said awkwardly climbing onto his back. Her arms fell around his neck and his arms supported her legs.

"Ya, ya don't mention it," he started along the walk way around the hill. While it would take a little while it was the easiest and safest way back up to the mansion. "So does it hurt much?"

"Um not really," Rogue lied.

"How'd you do it?" he asked.

"I was running around the hill area trying to catch a butterfly and I fell because I didn't pay attention." Pyro could feel the heat of Rogue's blush.

"Ah those damned butterflies," he joked.

"Yup," Rogue said resting her head on his shoulder. His cheeks flared lightly but he kept walking.

Once they reached the mansion some people were able to help John take Rogue down to where Jean treated her. "You're going to have to stay in bed for a few days Rogue otherwise you'll make it worse," Jean warned.

"Ok I'll be good," Rogue said.

"Ok then I'll get a wheelchair down here to get you up to your room."

"I'll take her," John said jumping from his seat in the waiting area.

"Oh ok," Jean said looking at him.

"Thanks John," Rogue said perking up. He came over and turned around and allowed her to slide onto his back.

"No problem you're super light," he said walking out, Jean smiled after the pair.

"Come on kid," Logan said lifting Rogue into his arms "time to use the bathroom and get some breakfast."

"Thanks Logan sorry to bother you," Rogue said. "Just out of curiosity why isn't John here today?" she asked.

"Oh so I'm not good enough anymore?" Logan whined feigning hurt.

"No, no you know I love ya Logan," Rogue said hugging him tighter.

"I know kid I just like to hear you tell an old man." Logan leaned down and kissed the crown of Rogue's little head.

After lunch Logan took me back up to my room and I saw John standing outside. "Here, here let me see her," John held his arms out.

"Whatever," Logan said handing Rogue over.

"Come here," he took her to her door "close your eyes," he whispered. Rogue smiled and obeyed excitedly waiting for her surprise. He walked into her room and set her down on her bed softly. "Open," he said.

"Oh my God!" she covered her mouth as John spread some fire on the floor and thousands of butterflies shot into the air of her room. Tears came into her eyes and she smiled wider than the sun. "John this is amazing," Rogue said seeing the colorful insects surround her.

"I just hated seeing you pouting all the time," he said kicking his shoe on her floor.

"John come here," Rogue patted her bed. John looked at her oddly but sat beside her. She leant over and kissed him softly "this was really sweet," she said. He blushed and looked down but smiled with a goofy grin rather than a badass smirk.
