Red Threads

BEEP; I shot up out of bed and slammed on my alarm. Why must this blasted thing wake me every single morning? I got up and looked for my outfit for today. After picking out a black tee shirt and some black jeans, I stumbled to the bathroom and got in the shower. I let the coldwater fully wake me. I can't take hot showers, they put me to sleep. I got out the shower and look for my towel. After finding it I got dressed and got ready for my day. Why does today feel different, wondered I checked my calendar. Sure enough today was different. It's the first day of school, lucky me. I went downstairs to see my mom already gone. "Way to wait up for someone mom." I said to an empty house.

I know she means well, but between all her volunteer work I barely see her. My dad got her started with that, and now that he's gone its all she ever does. Please note that I used the word gone instead of dead. I don't say dead, period. My dad did die in a car crash when I was eight, but he's till not dead, not to me, and he never will be. I walked outside to see my brother Caleb and his friends leaning against my burgundy beat up Lincoln. I already knew what was coming. "Hey sis mind giving us a ride", he asked almost snorted, he had no choice but to ride with me since he got his brand new Ferrari taken away until he could pay all of his speeding tickets. Then I looked at my brother, taking it all in, from his brown hair, which is so much different from my blond hair, to his plaid blue shirt. Without looking I already know he's hidden his blue thin rimmed glasses in his back pocket. If his friends saw those they'd probably disown him.

His friends pretty much ruled the whole school. I was just his nerdy little sister he basically only talked to when he needed a ride. After a few more minute I nodded my head. "Yeah", I said "I'll give you a ride, but your friends all have cars. Plus I don't have the room." To be honest, even if I had the room I wouldn't let them ride. I've seen what they can do to a car, on account of them taking my moms car and trashing it. He rolled his eyes and turned back to his friends, "Sorry guys but you're on your own." Then he hopped into the car. This is gonna be a long day.
