(Hey everyone! This is just an idea I got a few days ago. Hope you enjoy it! My first attempt at poetry; comment on your thoughts! Pokemon doesn't belong to me.)
What You Left Behind
We trudge through the night.
Soiled by the earth; stripped by the wind.
We came to see you.
I hope we didn't wake you.
We stare at the ground.
The blades of grass rooted around you,
The cold polished stone covering your likeness,
Six feet under.
We left behind our Poke-balls to see you.
We, your faithful servants,
Now standing above our master's body,
But you, still far above us, watching over.
We escaped from the Pokémon center for you.
Do I hear a search party behind us?
The Pokémon center felt so foreign without you.
Wild Pokémon gawk at us,
"Why do you stare at a piece of rock?" they must think.
So lifeless,
So still,
Yet imparted with our grief,
Beaming some life into the earth.
Hopeless, you know?
Everyone knows concrete blocks out radiation.
Beams reflect back on us,
You do not respond;
Beams of grief manifest to tears on our faces.
We remember.
"The winner is Oscar!"
The Pokémon League.
Our trainer went to seize the trophy.
The crowd roared for him,
We'd like to think they stood for us too.
Victory.
It made all the bandages, cuts and scrapes worth it.
The love and strength,
The courage you gave us it training,
Made the ordeal worth it.
Why did you have to leave so young?
Who will we have to show us our worth?
Who will we be without you?
We will have each other,
We will be Pokémon.
No more scrapes and cuts.
We are alone, the people say.
We are strong, we say.
We are independent.
Though we put you in our hearts always,
We know you were just the training wheels.
You are gone,
But our wheels will not tip over,
Thanks to you.
What you left behind, you will miss dearly.
What you left behind, you will be forever proud of.
(Hope y'all enjoyed that! Comment on your thoughts, and be sure to check out my other stories!)
