Outsiders Character

Ponyboy Michael Curtis - is a 13-year-old boy whose world has been turned upside down. His parents were killed in an automobile accident just eight months before The Outsiders story takes place. He lives with his oldest brother, Darry has temporary legal custody of him and his other brother, Sodapop. Pony is intelligent and sensitive and has certain un-greaserlike characteristics: he likes to go to movies by himself, does well in school, and appreciates sunsets. He is lacking common sense. He readily admits that he is smart at school, but sometimes he just doesn't think. These occasions get Pony into trouble that he could avoid.

Darry Curtis – The oldest of the Curtis brothers. Darry is 20 very intelligent and athletic. He is, hardworking, and rarely shows his feelings. After the boys' parents died, Darry passed up a college scholarship and took responsibility for raising his younger brothers. Darry has high expectations for Ponyboy, and Ponyboy's occasional failure to meet those expectations causes tension between the brothers. Darry tries to be a parent to his siblings but struggles with this role. He loves them dearly, though has a bit of a weird way of showing it. Instead of being caring and understanding, he is stern and protective of them. However, this is only because he doesn't want to lose them to social service.

Sodapop Patrick Curtis - nicknamed Soda by the gang and "Pepsi-Cola," by his deceased father. Sodapop is 16 years old, handsome and fun-loving. A high school dropout who enjoys working with cars and has a job at a gas station, he is a compassionate and supportive sibling to his brothers. He often finds himself in the middle of their fights. He enjoys racing, fighting, dancing, and basically anything that would blow off steam.

Alexander and Shane Curtis - are the twins. They are almost five years old. They are lively toddlers who were placed in a foster family after the accident of their parents.

Fiona Curtis alias Fiona Macleod - (Sister of Duncan Macleod) is born 1594 in the Highland village of Glenfinnan, Scotland off the shores of Loch Shiel. She is the mother of Darry, Sodapop, Ponyboy, Alexander and Shane. She was married to Darrel Curtis Sr.alias Brian Patrick Shea.

Darrel Curtis Sr.alias Brian Patrick Shea – was born 1101 in Tulsa Oklahoma. 1873 Brian befriended Duncan and Connor Macleod. They worked for a while on his ranch. Fiona visited her brother Duncan and fell in love with Brian. They married the first time 1874.

The Curtis parents were Immortals and after their accident another Immortal beheaded them before they came back from the death. Before the Curtis parents died they determine Duncan Macleod as guardian for their minor children. Fiona and Duncan were always very close even though he lived in Europe. They would talk to each other for hours on the phone. They would speak Gaelic and the boys never understood a word. She kept Duncan informed about her children.

Rest of the gang

He comes from an abusive and neglectful home, and he spends as little time there as possible. The greasers are his true family, and they regard him as a little brother. Johnny's courageous acts and words, as well as his premature death, inspire Ponyboy to write about his experiences and to pursue a better path in his life.

Dallas Winston – A tough, hardened greaser and he is 17 years old. Dally grew up on the streets of New York and learned early to depend upon himself.
