- Come on, just do it. - he said
- I can't.
- Yes. You can. You just have to try.
She scowled at him. It's not what she had in mind when she said she wanted to spend some time with him.
- I'll help you. Take the bag.
Not very happy she did what he asked her for.
- Good, now try to start frosting a petal. Don't worry, you won't kill it.
- So funny - she grunted. As the end of the frosting bag touched the cake, she saw her hands trembling a little. She tried drawing a line of the flower but it came out very rippled and uneven.
- You see?! I told you! - she was done. Stupid cake. Why couldn't they do something fun?
- Okay. I'll help you. - he chuckled.
- How? You're going to give me your hands? - she asked ironically.
- Well...kind of.
She rosed her eyebrows, taken off guard.
He stood behind her, and put his arms around her body to embrace her, or so she thought. She wanted to protest, saying that it's not the time for jokes, but then she found her hands covered with his, guiding her with his steady moves. She looked surprised as the the orange lines under her hands became tiger lilies, bright like a sunset.
She turned her head to look at him with a childlike smile, not quite believing what she's done.
He smiled at her at let go of her hands.
- Not that hard, is it? - he said sheepishly.
- I wouldn't have done it by myself.
- Nah, you just need some practise.
- Can we do the leaves? You know, just to practice. - she asked grinning at him.
- Yeah, sure. Take the green one.
And so they went on practising for the rest of the afternoon, untill there was no more place to cover with orange and green, and they needed to stop.
And Katniss could only think about how good they went together, matched and completed each other.
Colors, of course.
