So, I recently discovered the amazing manga and anime series known as Nurarihyon no Mago/ Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, and I really couldn't resist putting pen to paper and starting this story, even though I'm in the middle of The Spirit of the Dragon, my Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfiction. This is only a teaser chapter, so the others will be longer. Please, though, don't expect a chapter a day, or even a chapter a week, as school, Girl Scouts, and band come before my internal fantasy worlds, unfortunately. I will get the chapters up as fast as I can, but don't expect any miricals, especially with AP tests fast approaching.

I apologize to anyone who does not like the Rikou/Kana pairng. I think the two are adorable together.

Nurarihyon no Mago belongs to its creator, Hiroshi Shiibashi.

Enjoy!

Kana let out a shriek as the yokai that had been hidden behind a nearby bush stepped onto the path in front of her, then froze as she recognized the neko ears and marking that enhanced the teens youthful appearance. The pause in her movements, however, was only momentary, as she ran forward to help the neko yokai as she saw him pitch forward. When she reached his side she noticed that he seemed more confused to see her than she was to see him. His eyes, however, were only visible to her for a few brief seconds before they slipped closed as the boy fainted. Hearing a rustle from the bush that the now unconscious boy had stumbled out of, Kana spun, wanting to be facing whatever was coming at the very least. When she saw the next person to emerge, though, she froze, unsure of what her next move should be.

In the pre-dawn light the young boy's hair seemed to almost glow, the white overtones standing out sharply against the black undertones. When he saw he standing over his fallen friend his eyes abruptly widened in both fear and surprise. He quickly glanced at the rapidly brightening horizon, then looked back at her. He sighed sadly, as though accepting something that he would rather not. His vibrant crimson eyes seemed troubled, though Kana could not tell what was troubling the young yokai lord. He glanced at the horizon again before squaring his shoulders and kneeling down next to the fallen neko. As the boy pulled the band of cloth patterned with paw prints off of his associate's head Kana also looked across the ground to the point where she could see the sun just barely peering out from the shadows where it hid. She continued to watch the sun rise as the sound of a soft sigh reached her ears.

"Kana-chan," she heard a surprisingly familiar voice start, "can you help me get Ryota-Neko back to the main house?"
