It was nice to have the apartment to herself again. She'd gotten home an hour ago and dumped her bag at the door before face planting into the couch. It'd been a long day and if she was honest, she was kind of looking forward to her tried and true relaxation method.

She took a cleansing breath, releasing some of the tension from her shoulders. Yeah, a bath, some ice cream sounded like perfection right about now.

Standing from the couch, Kensi headed for the kitchen and pulled the tub of chocolate mint chip out of the freezer — they'd finished her rocky road a few nights ago but she'd settle for his chocolate mint chip for now — and a spoon from the drawer. She stripped as she made her way towards the bathroom, keeping her phone on her just in case.

She ran the bath, lighting a few scented candles and resting her phone on the edge before stripping down and climbing in. She relaxed back in the bubbles, flipping the tap off with her foot as the water level rose to just below the edge. She enjoyed spending time with Deeks, it was comforting to fall asleep in his arms and it felt right to wake up next to him in the morning but damn did he take up a lot of space in her bathtub. She grinned at the thought and reached out for the ice cream on the ground.

She was just scrapping the bottom of the carton when her phone started ringing. In her haste to grab her phone she dropped her spoon in the water.

"Crap." She murmured but didn't bother going after it. She tossed the empty carton on the floor and picked up her phone, answering it quickly before it could go to voice mail.

"Hey." Deeks' voice came through the receiver before she even had time to greet him.

"Hey," She replied in kind. "You okay?"

"Ah, yeah, I think so I just wanted…" He trailed off.

"Deeks?" She encouraged. She listened as he let out a long breath over the line. "Marty? Do you want me to come over?"

"No, no. I'm okay." He insisted.

She wasn't sold.

"What's going on? What do you need?"

"I'm just, I'm laying in bed and," He paused. "I guess I just wanted to hear your voice. Say good night. Wow, when did I become such a sap?"

She could practically see him run his fingers through his tousled hair and grin, slightly embarrassed at his own confession. She laughed.

"Hey Deeks?"

"Yeah Kens?"

"I'm sorry about Thapa." She said softly.

"Yeah. Me too."

"Are you sure you don't want me to come over?"

"I'm sure. Enjoy your bath." She could hear him smile.

"How'd you know?"

"Well it might have something to do with the echo coming through the phone line but I'm going to go with I just know you that well." He retorted.

She laughed again.

"Touché Detective." She waited for him to reply but she could hear his breathing beginning to even out. "See you tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow morning." He clarified sleepily.

"Tomorrow morning." She confirmed. "Night Deeks."

"Night Kensilina." His voice told her he was practically asleep already.

Kensi placed her phone down on the floor and slipped deeper into the water for just a moment before she flipped the release with her foot and stood to grab her towel.

She dried herself quickly, opting to leave the run away spoon in the tub and the ice cream carton where it had landed on the floor. She extinguished the candles and padded into her room with the towel wrapped around her frame. She was just about to grab her night shirt from the chair where it had landed that morning in her rush to get ready when she spied Deeks' shirt rumpled amongst the blankets on the bed.

He'd probably tease her for months if he knew she'd worn his shirt to bed in his absence, but what he didn't know wouldn't be mercilessly held over her head. Besides, she's pretty sure it would look better on her. She shrugged it on, accompanied by a pair of underwear she'd grabbed from her drawer, and climbed into bed.

Embracing the extra space she flipped onto her stomach, spreading her limbs out to encompass all four quadrants of the bed. She was still kind of worried about Deeks. He'd be fine, she knew, but still. He'd grown close to Thapa in the two cases they'd worked together, if her heart was hurting this much at the man's death she couldn't imagine what her boyfriend was going through.

She could feel her eyes starting to close though, evidence of the long, stressful day they'd had. She was just drifting off when an idea struck her. She reached blindly for her phone and she peered at it with one eye, hitting the necessary buttons before tabling it and falling to sleep.

Deeks groaned as he shuffled to the door.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm coming. Keep your pants on." He moaned as whoever was outside his apartment persistently rang the doorbell repeatedly. He swung the door open. "Or, ya know, don't." He grinned as he came face to face with his girlfriend.

"Morning." Kensi practically sang as she pushed past him.

"Morning." He replied huskily, tousling his hair and rubbing a hand over his face in an attempt to wake himself up more.

He closed the door and turned to face her again. Her arms were around his neck in an instant and he twined his around her waist in a loose hug in return. She pushed up on her toes and met his lips in a deep kiss, squeezing his shoulders tightly just before she pulled back.

"What time's it?" He asked, tightening his embrace and effectively pulling her closer.

"Just after five." She murmured back, her lips finding the underside of his jaw and working their way up to his ear.

"Miss me?" He teased. "Just couldn't wait til an acceptable hour to come and ravish me?" His breath hitched at the end of his sentence as she gently sucked his earlobe into her mouth.

"Something like that." She agreed nonchalantly, falling back down on her heels and looking up at his face.

"Actually, I was thinking maybe we could go to the beach. I've got my surfboard on the roof of the car." She was practically beaming up at him.

"You really are perfect." He said sweetly, bringing his hand up from her waist to brush her cheek and push back her hair.

"I'm going to remind you that you said that. Can I get a recording of it?" She continued to grin at him.

He scrunched his nose up. "Yeah, that's gonna come back to bite me too."

She laughed and stepped out of his embrace. She grabbed his hand and started leading him back towards his bedroom.

"C'mon. Get ready. The beach is calling."

They sat on their boards in the middle of the ocean, his calf hooked around hers so they didn't drift away from each other. They'd been out for close to two hours now and they'd both caught their share of waves and were now just sitting.

"Thanks for bringing me out here." Deeks said, his eyes still on the horizon ahead.

Kensi didn't reply. Deeks turned to see her looking out at the same spot he'd just been gazing at. He tugged on her leg with his, bringing them slightly closer.

"Kens?"

"Hmmm?" She tore her eyes to him.

"Thanks."

She nodded at him and stayed silent for a few moments longer.

"What did Thapa really tell you?"

"What?"

"At the warehouse and in the gun range. What did he really tell you?" She clarified.

"Just, stuff."

"You're not going to tell me?"

"Not yet." Deeks searched her face for any sign of hurt that he was keeping this from her. "Is that okay?"

"Of course." She assured. "Besides, I'll get all your secrets out of you eventually." She grinned at him slyly.

"I have no doubt about that." He grinned back. He reached out his hand and she grabbed his, pulling their boards and bodies closer together. They both leaned in but just as their lips met a small swell flowed under them and they bumped their heads together roughly causing Kensi to erupt into a small fit of giggles while Deeks rubbed his head.

"You have a hard head woman." He joked. "Let's go get some breakfast. There's a really good diner near here. Their pancakes are to die for."

"I thought you were going to let me ravish you."

"Maybe we'll just get breakfast to go." He smirked at her. He glanced over his shoulder at the open ocean. "Race you back. Loser pays." He unwound their legs and laid down on his board, starting to paddle in an effort to catch the wave he had seen approaching.

"Cheater!" Kensi called out to him, laughter clearly evident in her voice. He glanced over his shoulder to catch a glimpse of her and was enraptured by her wide smile, completely missing the wave he'd been attempting to catch.

He'd tell her what the wise Ghurka had told him eventually, maybe in his wedding vows.
