Seeing by Tler
He watched the sun set in a blaze of red hues that made the oozing blood from his scrapes and scratches beautiful. The pain ebbed away, once he saw them as beautiful, imagined his colors adding to the masterpiece of the sky canvas. His yellow hair, his torn orange jacket, his red blood, decorating his person as they decorate the heavens. He blinked back tears—it was not yet storm season—and continued to watch the sun sink below the horizon.
He watched the harassment with his solemn eyes, innocent enough to know what they were doing was wrong, but not enough to try and stop them. He saw no tears when he knew they should have fallen, saw no help from grown-ups when it should have been given. He watched as they left the blond boy slumped against a wooden post, laughing in malicious glee as the older boys left for the comforts of their home. The sun was setting, and it would soon be dark. In the fading light, he watched as a fallen star regained its flame.
Naruto saw the brilliance of the sunset, and knew there was something greater and more wonderful than what he has. Sasuke saw an attempt to trample a soul too bright and marveled at the strength of will.
