Reasons Why

Just some nice, harmless fluff. Enjoy. Oh and if you think of more reasons feel free to tell me in the reviews.

Cheers and I own nothing.

It was easy to see why a man like Wash would fall in love with a woman like Zoe. She was strong, smart and incredibly beautiful. It was less obvious why a woman like her would fall for him. He was loud, chatty, didn't take missions seriously and wore hideous shirts. But Zoe has her reasons and she stores a list in her head in case anybody should ever ask. It seems to grow longer with each passing day.

- His smile. When he shaved of his moustache she finally noticed his dimples. But most of all she noticed that his smile always reached his eyes.

- His dinosaurs. Before they were together she used to silently watch him play with them; first with scorn and then with admiration at his vast imagination. She was enthralled, but one day she had laughed at a stupid joke and he'd seen her. For a second he'd looked terrified, like he'd been caught doing something wrong. Then he realized that she looked as uncomfortable as he felt. So he grinned and turned back to his console and let her watch. Now sometimes she was able to join in.

-The way he flew the ship so naturally; like it was an extension of his body. He made Serenity, a bucket of bones, move with grace.

- The way his eyes softened when he looked at her. She was used to men admiring her body and staring at her lustfully. It made her skin crawl. But Wash looked at her with a mixture of admiration and fear. Mostly admiration. It was strangely flattering. Now he looks at her with love. The most intense love.

- He's proud to be with her. He holds her hand in public and when she saves the day he claps his hands and cries out "that's my girl!"

-His arms. They are strong and well defined and had just the right amount of hair. She didn't notice them until she's seen his borrowing Jayne's weights. She was impressed to say the least. Then she discovered that the only place in world she ever felt completely safe was wrapped in those arms.

- His stupid shirts. Yes they are all kinds of awful. But they remind her of childhood and being carefree. They made her feel at home.

-Make out sessions on the bridge. Enough said.

-He is a good lover. Amazing actually. He is the first man she's been with that actually cares about her enjoying herself. When they make love, her worships her, does everything possible to please her. And it works everytime.

-His never-ending loyalty. His first month aboard Serenity, a seedy man in a seedy bar gave his a chance to sell out the crew for a lucrative profit. And instead of taking the money and buying his own ship he'd one straight to the captain. When Mal asked him why he's jus grinned and said "this is my family now. You don't sell out family."

- He didn't kiss Saffron. He had every chance and he chose not to. She spent the next week reminding everybody of that fact. It still made her smile to think that her husband withstood that woman's temptations.

-He makes her laugh. Big belly laughs and little snickers. Everyday. When they first met his sense of humor irritated her because she was so unused to careless jokes. But now she can't imagine being without it.

-He calls her Lambie-toes. It's bizarre but strangely comforting.

-Most of all because he makes her feel safe and beautiful and completely loved. And that is incomparable.
