I had to. I ADORE the new Star Trek movie ESPECIALLY since Karl Urban is playing Bones and... I freaking love Karl Urban, he's fantastic. But yeah went on an Urban trip so i decided to watch Star Trek, and the part when he's in medbay and everything is destroyed and he makes that little sarcastic remark to Captain Spock the Obvious, I had this idea for this drabble so yeah. Karl never has a love interest in like ANY of his movies, but Doctor McCoy needs some attention so yeah. Also I should be posting a DooM fanfiction sometime soon. It'll be like a sequel to the movie with a kick ass plot twist. so fellow Urbanites look for that.

"Hold on, this'll hurt."

He grabbed her arm and shoved the shoulder back into its socket.

The young woman yelped.

"Alright, hold your arm to your chest like that." He said as he folded her arm against her upper body while she panted heavily trying to shake off the slowly dissipating pain. A small line of blood creeped its way down her cheek from a cut just above her left temple.

"Stay like that while I get a sling." He dashed off into the pandemonium of, the now half destroyed, med bay on board the heavily damaged U.S.S. Enterprise. Loose cables sparked and frantic crew members rushed to put out the blossoming fires.

The chief of the medical staff reappeared with an arm sling. His patient was still cradling her arm, sitting on the half charred gurney. He wrapped the sling around her shoulder and eased the arm into it.

She hissed softly as he did so.

"Ow…" she groaned "I don't think I'll ever be doing that again."

He glanced at her from adjusting the sling. There was an awkward moment of silence between them.

"What makes you say that?" he asked slowly. His tone was guarded, "You saved my life back there."

She fell silent, a strange calm coming over her.

"…It just seemed like the thing to say."

"But you didn't mean it?" he asked.

She looked off into the smoke accumulating in the room from the electrical fires.

"No, I guess not."

He pulled the final strap tight, jerking her back to reality with a small jolt of pain.

"…You shouldn't say things you don't mean." He admonished, turning away to grab an antiseptic pad for the cut on her forehead. When he came back she was staring down at the floor. Slowly her eyes rose to meet his as he approached.

"and yet…" she started quietly "There are so many things I mean, that… I never say."

His hand froze with his hand outstretched, holding the gauze to the wound on her forehead. They stared at one another for a long time. Long enough for it to feel as though the chaos were diminishing around them.

"Doctor McCoy! We need your help over here!"

They two of them stumbled back to reality once more. He jerked his hand away from her forehead. They averted their eyes awkwardly. He cleared his throat.

"Get to the nearest safe zone. You're not fit for combat." He said.

She nodded in compliance, and slid off the gurney.

"Yes sir."

Then she disappeared into the smoke and chaos.
