She was certain she was breathing too loudly, and controlled the urge to react physically to what he was doing to her. What he was doing in the middle of the kitchen, during heavy foot traffic. She sighed deeply, closed her eyes, and fought to regain control of her senses. Jayne appeared in deep concentration, not paying any heed to the other people filling the kitchen. Inara poured tea delicately into a mug; Book chopped up vegetables, aiding Wu in the preparation of tonight's meal, and Mal was taking a coffee break from his Captiny activities. Inara approached the table where Wu and Jayne were sitting and set down a mug in front of Wu. "Thanks" replied Wu as she grasped her mug, its foundation never leaving the table.

Inara smiled and dipped her head slightly in acknowledgement then continued their conversation of earlier, "And did Fenwick Chen assault the honorable damsel?"

Wu exhaled heavily and focused her attention in earnest upon Inara. "In the maintenance cupboard no less", she replied and smiled.

Inara arched her eyebrow upwards. "While practicing for her performance?" Inara's hand cupped her gray floral mug, as she brought it delicately to her lips.

"Not a minute before she was about to go on stage" Wu replied, and took a drink cautiously from her hot mug.

"It's a miracle she didn't throw out her vocal chords" Wu nearly choked on her tea as she brought the mug back to the table. "Well it is entirely plausible, knowing her."

"That it is" Mal spoke from the side of his mouth, and then smiled widely.

Just then, a click sounded and Wu jerked her head in Jayne's direction, she turned her attention towards her resting mug, looked downward under the table towards her shoes. He had finished cleaning one of his revolvers, and snapped the cylinder back into place. "Did she make it to the stage in time?" asked Inara, bemused, clearly aware of what was going on.

"She was a tiny bit late." Replied Wu, ears still focused primarily on the on-goings happening adjacent on the table, "I had to yell down the hall for her."

Then Jayne took out Binky, his monstrous Bowie Knife, and licked it. Wu accidently knocked her tea cup to the ground as the hot tea splashed the floor. Exclamations were made and she hurriedly grabbed a cloth, mopped up the mess, and thanked the stars that her mug was not broken. Inara motioned as if to help Wu take care of the cloth and mug, but when she reached out Wu jerked back, almost knocking over a chair in the process, and made towards the exit.

"Are you sure you couldn't use any help with those?" asked Inara

"No, no, it's okay," Wu replied, walking backwards slowly, while trying hard not to look at or think about Jayne , "I'll just …. I'll just be, in …. my bunk." She muttered before her eyes widened at the reality of what she'd just said, and then fled out the door.

Jayne didn't even look up from his weaponry as she left the room. He did however let out a small devious chuckle.
