Neville was nervous. Looking at himself in his dress robes, he realized he was actually going through with this. He had asked out the girl he liked and he was actually going to go spend an entire night with her. Taking a deep breath, he strode out of his drom room, keeping a brave frame of mind in tact.
He made it all t he way down the Grand Staircase before his nerves came back. Neville took another deep breath and looked around for his date. And then he saw her. She was wearing an odd dress but it only made her more beautiful. Her silver-grey eyes sparkled as she looked at the ceiling above her.
Neville smiled weakly and made his way over to her. "Hello Luna. You look beautiful tonight," he told her, very nervous now.
"Thank you, Neville. You look very handsome as well," Luna said in her usual calm, sing-song voice. Neville blushed a little and put out his arm for her to take. She took it with a smile and they began walking into the Grand Hall.
Everything looked amazing and well put together but Neville couldn't take his eyes off Luna. She was breathtaking. She always knew just what to say and what to do. She made him feel calm and apart of something. He liked the butterflies he got when she was around, unlike the butterflies he got when Malfoy and his crew would come strutting down the halls or when he had to speak in front of the class.
"Would you like to dance?" Neville asked Luna as the first song began playing. Luna nodded and her silver-grey eyes began to sparkle like never before. He was still amazed by everything about her, despite how much time they had spent together putting books away in the library the past few years.
Leading her to the dance floor, Neville held her closely as they began spinning around to the music. Luna grinned at him every now and then and he would lose his train of thought and trip a bit. When the music got slower, he began to panic. The thought of just standing there swaying with her in his arms made his mind go wild.
"You're very different, Neville Longbottom. I like you," Luna told him as they swayed. He blushed profusly before saying anything.
"You are very different. I've never met any one like you, Luna Lovegood." Neville took a deep breath. He was beginning to panic again. "I'm mad for you," he finally said in a loud whisper.
"I'm quite mad for you too," Luna whispered back. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek lightly. Neville took his hand off her waist to touch as cheek as if in shock. Smiling with confidence, he leaned down and kissed her lips lightly. She willingly kissed him back and danced until the last song with him, happy he was hers. He was was overwhelmed with joy that she was his. Neither of them would have asked for anything more.
