We often wonder how much we can take or how far we can go... and what will drive us to our limits, what will test us the most thoroughly. Sometimes we find out and are afraid of what we see.

Healing takes a long time
Forgetting takes forever
Losing takes a lifetime
Remembering is never.

Forgiving is begrudging
Digressing is complex
Extracting is difficult
Protecting is intense.

Defending fills your soul
Running fills your lungs
Separating fills your eyes
Parting fills your heart

...Then it overflows.

Forbearance is required
Fortitude is useful
Strength is necessary
Skill is of essence.

Quiet fears come to life
And steal away my soul
When seen in a new light
They'll never be known.

...Then it overflows.

My heart feels heavy
My legs are weak
Only now will I press on
Because this is what it takes.

My emotions override
My useless, stupid fears
And I'm free to search
Not fearing what I find.
