I'd decided to take a walk after Brittany's funeral. Emma had joined Lily and Toby in the Slytherin common room; they had all looked like ghosts. But as I looked towards the Forbidden Forest, everything became sort of hazy.
Its funny how the walk of life
Can take you down without a fight
So many years can lay behind
Regretfully until its time
To realise the moment
When you turn around
My mind had wandered off, and my feet had followed. I stood in the middle of a tiny clearing, it was covered with stones. A particular stone got my attention, it looked like a gemstone. I took it in my hand and looked at it. It looked like any normal gemstone.

The sun shone on me, and its rays split on the stone's surface. "I wonder what would happen if I just turned it three times?" It was a superstitious thought, but intrigued me at the same time. So I did it.
Back in the day when I was younger
I was so lost and proud
I've gained the world but it will never
Compare to what I've earned
In a quiet moment
When the earth holds still
They came out from behind the trees, their face shone, and they were both smiling. "M-Mum?" She smiled and shook that long black hair of hers away from her face. "You've done so well, Alexander. What more could a mother ask for?" Merlin, she looked so young. It was like watching her before she'd been killed. "I never wanted you to die, any of you-" My voice broke, and I closed my eyes to keep from crying. "Alexander, my death wasn't your fault, it wasn't Lily's fault. It was all thanks to my own ignorance." Brittany rubbed her shoulder.
"It's my fault, if I had looked after you, you'd both been alive still." My eyes watered, and a sob escaped from my mouth. "I miss you both. I miss you so terribly."

A tear shone on Brittany's cheek. "T…Tell Brittany I love her, and that I never meant to die in front of her. She shouldn't grieve over that." I shook my head. "I'll tell her that." Mom smiled and reached out for me, I did the same for her.
It looked like our fingertips touched for a second, but her hand was so frail, so cold. It glided through my own, so cold and dead. "No." I whispered as she stepped back. "You have to move on, Alexander. You have to move on with Lily, Toby and Emma. Leave the dead to their own business."

The sun's rays were reflected in their hair. "You have to go now." I shook my head, and didn't move an inch. But mum looked at me as if she couldn't do so enough. "I'll miss you both, so terribly much." They smiled and whispered : "We'll miss you too…but don't worry about us, we're home, and so are you." I laughed softly.
They walked beside me as I left the forest, their forms dissolved as the sun came into full view. Mom had been right, I finally was home.
