I'm So Sorry

Her divine form lay motionless as always inside the mako crystal, sleeping. Her arms rested on her chest, while her hands gracefully intertwined.

Dark, crimson, eyes looked upon her beauty, with extreme pain. They averted down to hide their shame, occupying themselves by staring at a small puddle.

"Vincent..."

His eyes snapped up from the puddle, and gave her full attention,

"I'm so sorry..."

Vincent had heard this apology many times before, on his visits. All the memories flowed from those words, and tore at his insides,

"I know...you don't have to keep apologizing—I'm the one who should. I just stood there and watched, and I didn't even try to stop you. That was my sin, and this is my punishment."

"You fiend! Look what you've done! Lucrecia!" a younger Vincent Valentine shouted. A sickening laughter echoed throughout the small lab, dieing down a few seconds later,

"Her child is aiding my hypothesis! Aiding science! Aiding the theory of, Jenova's Reunion that all she created, such as Lucrecia's infant, Sephiroth. Jenova's cells, boy!"

Vincent was greatly disgusted. He knew that Lucrecia's baby would be used in a cruel experiment, but to inject Jenova's cells into a small child at this age? Just for the aid of science, towards the Reunion theory?

"It's getting worse, Doctor—her strength is waning, even after the delivery, she might...die."

The Doctor gave a scoff, "If she does return to the Lifestream, we need not to worry—her part is done."

Vincent slammed his fist on a wooden desk, shatters of glass surrounding his feet, "HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!? SHE'S PROBABLY GOING TO DIE, AND YOU DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT HER!?"

"No, but you say it quite frank...I congratulate you."

"SHUT UP! If you're not going to save her, then I will!"

"If what you say is true...then, you'll be only a threat to our goal."

He remembered the bullets...Lucrecia's tears when she saw him, laying on the floor mortally wounded. He remembered her attempt to save him, in a quick operation of infusing him with Jenova cells.

When Chaos was uncontrollable, she put him to sleep for a very long time until Cloud, and his party found him, resting.

They journeyed around the area many times until they found her cave.

"Vincent...I'm so sorry..." her soft voice echoed through the cave, once again.
