Not Fighting Anymore
I'm back in school now, and it's quiet reading time. But I can't stop thinking about my family. Matt and Mohinder kept me home from school for a day while I got better. It was so cool because we just watched movies all day and no one wanted to fall asleep. Except for the time when Mohinder yelled at Matt for making me look for the Nightmare Man, and Matt yelled at Mohinder for taking me to his work. That wasn't so cool, but I told them I was okay so they could stop fighting. Then they would smile at me and come watch a different movie.
But Mohinder left this morning. Or he's leaving this afternoon, I don't really remember, I just know I said bye to him this morning. Matt yelled a little bit again. They're always yelling. But I miss him already. I just woke up two days ago and he already left. And he left when him and Matt were fighting.
I have to see him. So I close my eyes and look. I see New York, then our street – I guess he's leaving in the afternoon, since he's at home – then I see our apartment door, and then I see our kitchen. Mohinder's there, and so is Matt. At first I don't know what they're doing. Mohinder is leaning against Matt who is leaning against the fridge – and I'm confused. But I look closer, from a different angle, and I can see that they're kissing.
In my head I say, Yay, they aren't fighting!
Then it all falls apart, this vision of mine. Matt pushes Mohinder away, meanly. He looks angry. Mohinder just looks confused. I'm confused.
But now Matt's smiling – he's not angry? – and he looks over to where I am. Can he see me? And I hear his voice in my head. "Go back to class Molly."
I'm about to say something but he keeps going.
"Don't worry, Mohinder will be back soon. And no we're not fighting anymore. Just go back to class," he says out loud.
I giggle, because Mohinder looks so funny. He's confused because he can't see me, and he's looking at Matt like he's crazy. Matt laughs with me.
And I open my eyes again, and look around the classroom. Everything is good again. They aren't fighting. I go back to reading my book, just like all the normal kids in the class.
