It appeared a cloudy night like any other in the wizarding world, save for the numerous owls that flew constantly throughout the sky. Or perhaps the large packs of witches and wizards, who were happily roaming the streets with flagons of Butterbeer, screaming phrases like "Long live Harry Potter!" or "You-Know-Who has gone at last!" Yes, it was indeed a glorious night, for the most feared wizard of all time had fled. However, not everyone saw this as an occasion to be celebrated.
Amongst the crowd, nobody had noticed a shaggy black dog making its way towards an isolated hillside, while clutching a copy of The Daily Prophet in its mouth. On and on it trotted, until the cheering crowds could no longer be seen. Once it reached its destination, the dog disappeared into a clump of bushes. A few minutes later it reappeared, not as a dog, but as a man. This man's name was Sirius Black, and naturally he was a wizard.
However, unlike the rest of his magical folk, he was not outside celebrating the disappearance of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. The first reason was because of his appearance in public. Though he was a wizard, he was not welcomed as 'Sirius Black' but as 'the man who sold Lily and James Potter to You-Know-Who'. Sirius himself knew this was not true, but one look at his face convinced many that he was a murderer. Whether it was his filthy black hair or the gaunt aura surrounding him, he knew that now would be the worst time to step out of the shadows. The second reason, being that he felt tactless at the idea of parading the street, rejoicing the deaths of two people whom he was very close to.
He straightened up and opened the paper with shaking hands, to read the tragic event that he refused to believe. A few teardrops landed on the moving picture of James and Lily Potter. Sirius crushed the paper and sobbed at the loss of his best mate. Why this had happened now he could not understand, for it felt as if they had just met yesterday…at Hogwarts.
