Rain Kisses
I stared out at the gentle rain. I had been sitting out here for the past half-hour watching it. Some people don't like the rain but I do, to me it sees like the rain cleanses. A time for new beginnings.
I heard footsteps behind me and turned to see a slender figure standing in the doorway.
"Areith are you going to come inside?" Yuffie walked out and sat next to me.
"In a little bit." I answered.
"Well you should come in soon because Cid bet Merlin that he couldn't eat a whole pie." she smiled mischievously " I put ten bucks on Merlin just for the fun of it."
I had to smile at that. I had such wacky friends.
"Areith?"
I turned and saw Yuffie looking down and twiddling her thumb nervously.
"Yes?"
Yuffie looked up and hesitated for a moment. "You know the world that you used to live on? Did you have anyone, um, special there?"
I stared out at the rain and thought, "I don't remember."
"Oh okay," Yuffie said," just wondering."
"You know your special to me Yuffie." the words came out of my mouth before I could stop them.
She looked up at me and blushed.
"Y-your special to me to."
I looked over at her and our eyes locked. She put her hand up to my cheek and pushed a loose lock of hair behind my ear. We both leaned forward until our lips connected in a soft embrace. Once the kiss ended Yuffie entwined her hand with mine. We held hands for a moment until she let go to stand up.
"Your coming to watch the old man eat pie right?"
"Of course." I said.
I turned back to the drizzling rain and whispered, "of course."
