Author's Note:
I hate this, I really do. But my minion over there *points at Kim* bribed me. I know absolutely nothing about this fandom except for what I've read in her story "Blood Ties," so I know how badly this sucks. This is so much more dialogue than I usually do, I'm more of a monologue person, but I figured I should stick to conversation since I don't really know the details. This is inspired by XspriteyX's "Blood Ties" as well as the short story "Penelope" by Ally Blue. If you haven't read Kim's epic-beyond-belief fics or the amazingness that is Ally Blue's novels, go do that. A matter of fact, go do that and don't waste your time on this.
"I couldn't just leave her!" Obito yelled
Kakashi glared with his one good eye. "I told you that you're the only one I wanted living here, Obito, how is that so hard to understand?"
"She lost her parents! How could you just turn her away?"
"I want her gone. End of discussion."
"No it is not the 'end of discussion'! You're being irrational!"
Kakashi sighed, softened slightly by Obito's big brown puppy dog eyes. "We're not cut out to take care of her…I'm barely cut out to take care of you."
"But I don't need taken care of," Obito said softly, getting to his feet and walking over to his mate. "I need you more than anyone else in the world Kashi, but she needs you in an entirely different way. I know she'll love you…I was in love from the moment I saw you."
Kakashi ran his hand down the side of his lover's face, giving a heavy sigh of defeat. "Fine."
"She can stay?"
"I guess so..."
"Really? You mean it?"
"Yeah…we'll keep her."
Obito's eyes lit up, and he did a little dance of joy. He looked down at the bundle in his arms and cooed, "Meet your new daddies, sweetheart. Kakashi, do you want to hold her?"
The silver haired man looked a little uncomfortable but took the furry white kitten from Obito's arms. He preferred dogs, really, not to mention a four week old baby kitten would require so much attention and care. Obito had found her outside their apartment, fur clinging to her in the rain. No one knew what had happened to her mother, but she was nearly frozen to death by the time Obito brought her inside and dried her off, bottle feeding her warm milk.
"Aww, she's purring!" Obito gushed.
"She's so fragile…"
Obito smiled as he watched his love pet the tiny, delicate kitten. When Kakashi sat the sleeping kitten down on the couch, he tugged Obito into his arms and held his crazy, orange-goggled mate. Argue as they may, they loved each other. Obito nuzzled into Kakashi's neck and made a happy little sound, burying himself in the taller man's embrace. They'd been together for two years now, against all odds that had tried to tear them apart. Even now Obito got weak in the knees whenever Kakashi kissed him long and deep, and Kakashi still felt his heart skip a beat when Obito gave that beautiful, wild smile.
"So does she have a name yet?" Kakashi asked.
"Nope."
"Alright…name her then."
Obito looked over at the sleepy, fluffy kitten that looked like an oversized cotton ball on the large sofa. "Hmm…Gracie. Our Gracie."
"Our Gracie…my Obito."
Kakashi held gazes with Obito, who smiled softly and walked right into his mate's arms. It had taken awhile, but Obito Uchiha had finally found a family that loved him. Maybe there were a little unorthodox, but come on...where's the fun in normal?
