It had been days. Whatever this thing was that haunted his conscious mind had been there for far too long, he wished it would go away but that wish had not been answered. The shadows were always in his peripheral vision, almost in full view but gone as soon as he turned to look, nothing more than a shadow and the silent laughter. His sensors picked nothing up but he knew it was there; always there and always whispering. He could block it out most of the time but right now it was bad, worse than it had ever been so far.
The pads of RK's fingers rubbed against the smooth jewel in his necklace, he couldn't feel it but the readings his sensors gave him let him know that it was there and that he was indeed touching it. The motions were soothing to him and kept him anchored for the most part, just enough so he didn't lose it completely.
Kabuki had noticed that RK was awfully silent and very still. This normally very energetic echidna wasn't doing anything and that worried the bot. He closed his book and reached a hand out to his shoulder asking if he was okay.
The whispering was deafening he couldn't hear anything, just like that time he spent in that infernal gem... just like that time...
RK's eyes shrunk to tiny, glowing pinpricks when he felt something touch his shoulder. It was that damn creature! It was going to pull him back inside that gem. He refused! HE WASN'T GOING BACK! Spinning around and letting out a roar, the energy from his core flowed to his hands to create his blades as he slammed the creature against the wall. He was going to tear it to shreds. He would finally be rid of it.
Kabuki let out a shocked cry and began to apologize profusely for disturbing the echidna, but he wasn't listening, his eyes were pure green and he knew that there would be no getting through to RK. He was certain he was going to get torn to shreds, beyond repair. That is, until he heard Metal yelling for RK to stop and watched him grab onto the clawed arm.
It took a lot of coaxing on Metal's part to finally get RK to release Kabuki and to get him to put away his claws. Once he did, however, he stared into the dimmed green eyes before pulling the bigger robot into a hug, there was something wrong but the stubborn fool wouldn't tell him what. Normally, he would push until he got the answer he desired, but something in the back of his mind told him to not press the issue and wait for his team mate to tell him on his own time. He hoped it was soon.
