Yes, I was bored and the relationship of Dahra and Elwood has always fascinated me. We didn't hear much about them in the books, though we know they broke up in Plague. This is my take on their relationship. Enjoy!

Dahra had never been a typical girly girl. So she was very surprised when one of the most popular guys in school had asked her out. A guy she had only dared to admire from a distance.

Elwood turned out to be a great guy. Good personality. Good-looking. Dahra felt like the luckiest girl in the world. He had made her feel truly beautiful. No guy had ever made her feel that way before.

But she was only fourteen. What did she know about love?

That was the question every adult asked her. But the real question was; what did she know about love before Elwood came along? The answer was nothing.

They were young, but their love was real.

Dahra had never been one to be naive. She knew when guys wanted her or when they wanted her body. She knew that Elwood wanted her for who she was. And she loved him for it.

Yes, she loved him. He loved her. They had told each other, though none of them really flaunted their feelings.

Everything went so well. Yes, everything seemed so perfect. But then the FAYZ arrived, and tore them apart.

She had been so terrified. Who hadn't? But she found comfort in Elwood. He had made her fear and pain easier to bear. And though she was scared out of her mind, she fell more and more for Elwood every day.

She became the Doctor of the FAYZ. The one that cared for the children until Lana could heal them. She was fine with her work. It was tiresome. Very tiresome indeed, but she felt useful. And if it was anything Dahra had ever wanted it was respect, and having people need her. Though they needed her a little too much sometimes.

Then Elwood would comfort her, and everything would seem fine. She noticed how they sprayed hope into the terrified children, whenever they kissed or hugged in front of them. They became parents at the age of fourteen.

But Elwood started to change. He became more and more aggressive. They would fight, and it broke her heart. He was the only thing she had left. He was the only thing that kept her from embracing insanity. He kept her sane, and she felt him slip through her fingers like wind through air.

He changed completely. His looks, like everyone elses, faltered. But Dahra didn't care. She had fallen for him. Not his looks. But he had changed. He pressured her to do things she didn't want to. And he got mad at her for no reason. He was not the boy she had fallen for anymore. He was just an empty shell of the person she once had admired, and loved so dearly.

The FAYZ had messed with all of their heads. But it had really fucked up Elwoods.

He was not her love anymore.

And it broke her heart.
