With Fire and Iron
AN: Hello, I just wanted to make it clear, the character that is portrayed is Heinz Guderian, if he was in the ATLA world. I always thought it was interesting that the Fire Nation had Tanks and Mechanical vehicles, but no true leader for the equipment. I also wanted to say, I do not have Nazis views, nor do I have any love for them. Instead I always thought of their equipment and doctrine highly. Thank You.
Standing at the position of attention is easy, however, when your commanding officer has your folder on the table, it becomes nerve racking. After a few minutes of nodding and flipping pages, Colonel Rah finally looked up, "Stand at ease, lieutenant." With military precision, my hands went behind my back, but my eyes never left the Colonel.
With a stern look he said," Lieutenant, you've been with us for Six years, it's about time you had your own Group."
At that moment a brief smile shined on my face, although years of military discipline reminded me that I was in the presence of my commanding officer. "Thank you very much sir, I won't let you-", Immediately the Colonel cut me off, "Lieutenant, are you under the impression I would ever let a Lieutenant lead a group?"
With as much hopeful pride as I could muster I responded, "Sir, perhaps a promotion to Captain could fix the problem." I asked hopefully. With a big crackle of laughter the Colonel nodded his head. "Yes, I completely agree with that thought process." Relief washed over me like a raging volcano, "Thank you very much sir." As military discipline dictated, we both stood at the position of attention and saluted one another. A thought accrued to me, I'm going to be a Captain…
Smile gone, the Colonel began writing on a piece of paper, "Hand this to the 1st Armored Group's High Sergeant, he will see to your new living accommodations". Reaching for the piece of paper, I noticed an order on the commanders table. The Colonel might have been getting older by each day, but not old enough to spot a curious eye, "Want to read it?" With a guilty look on my face I nodded.
The Order was simple enough, Begin procuring of supplies and troops, the siege on Ba Sing Se begins on the next full moon. It was signed by none other than the Crown Prince, General Iroh.
The war could finally be over, I thought to myself, "Home" I suddenly spoke aloud. Not missing a beat the Colonel smiled and replied. "Captain, all we need to do is clear the outskirts of the wall. Be sure your group is ready." Coming to attention once more I saluted him and left.
If we can capture the capital, the war will be over. I kept on thinking to myself, but with dread I knew the next problem. A lot of men are going to die…
AN2: To give some dates, there are two date formats. BG – Before Air Nation Genocide and AG – After Air Nation Genocide. The current date is 94 AG. Thank You.
