AN: This was actually written as part of an application to a Yuugiou RP. XD So it's short and a bit different style than my usual writing. It also probably needs a revision or more added to the end. But good enough; so I decided to go ahead and post it. XD
Yami no Yuugi smiled slightly, watching his other piece together a huge, sprawling jigsaw puzzle that was laid out across the floor of Yuugi's room. The spirit was sitting a little ways away on the bed, somewhat transparent, resisting the urge to help Yuugi with the puzzle. The other boy never got offended by the spirit's advice in things like this, but Yami no Yuugi knew he liked to do it by himself so he patiently sat by, trying not to add input unless it was asked for.
Yuugi went about putting together puzzles drastically different then Yami no Yuugi did. The spirit preferred the methodical approach; finding the corners, then the outside edges, then filling in from there. But Yuugi let the puzzle fit together however it seemed to want to; working from the right to left one moment, then putting together a section in the middle that was entirely unattached to the others.
At first, Yami no Yuugi had wondered about that a bit. It seemed to be a less effective way of going about it, but it didn't slow Yuugi down at all. If anything, Yuugi could put togther puzzles faster than Yami no Yuugi could. The spirit filed it away in his mind to suggest timing themselves sometime.
Eventually though he'd come to figure it out; Yuugi just followed his heart while placing the pieces together. Just like he had with the Sennen Puzzle. He himself, he'd realized afterwards, didn't do this so much. No doubt that instinct and intuition factored into the way he went about things, but at times he focused too much on the technical aspects of everything and began to lose sight of the heart of it.
While Yuugi tended to look up to him as a mentor and guide Yami no Yuugi did the same towards his other, if not so obviously. More and more, the spirit was becoming confident that Yuugi was, in many ways, the stronger of the two of them. So he continued to watch over and guide the the other boy, but also looked beyond that; in quiet times where there was no need to protect Yuugi, he was able to learn from him. Even if Yuugi had no idea he was doing it.
