To me, this show is like a marriage. Every couple has ups and downs and at the moment, or this season, our relationship is in a down. Sooo, this is how I'm getting through our little rough patch.
Enjoy! Oh and I don't own Bones or any of the Characters, if I did, I wouldn't be on fanfic. lol
People say love is everlasting but people are as wrong about that as they are about everything else.
"You wanna get a drink?" he asks politely, hoping she will refuse, and she does. She knows this game now and has mastered it like everything else that she's studied.
"No, but thank you. You can just drop me off at the lab."
"Okay."
That's what their relationship has become. A habit, that both are too broken to break. 'If only they had a "How to Fix a Broken Partnership/Friendship/Relationship for Dummies" book' she thinks, slightly amused by herself.
Months and moments passed and she has found herself dating again. He's a heart surgeon, with an IQ only slightly less than hers. He gives a considerable amount of money to charity, is a vegetarian and wears black socks. They solve puzzles together and read side by side on the couch as her television collects dust, as she always argued that it would.
They move in together and he puts the toiled seat down, drinks her foreign beer and continuously puts her cashmere sweaters in the dryer.
His smile is quiet and disarming. His laugh is warm, which she likes and it's never at her expense, which she loves.
He is perfect for her. And she's finally happy.
Their partnership continued for three more years, until he accepted a promotion; more money, less risk.
She danced with him at his wedding, attended his daughter's baptism and consoled him on his grandfather's funeral. Every so often they share a soft smile, a gentle touch or a longing look, but they both know they missed their moment.
If a relationship ends, is it a failure? She doesn't think so.
He taught her how to love and she will always love him for that.
