The Beginning of Bionicle™

Once upon a time, on a faraway planet, a bunch of weird scientist guys decided to make a cool-looking robot. So they worked and worked and worked and worked until it was done—except for the outer color.

There was quite a fuss about what color the robot should be, and finally, one of the scientists by the name of John B. Bionicle, who was the one who had brought up the idea of making the robot in the first place, pointed out that it should be red. Everyone agreed. So they made red outer parts and put them on the robot. Then, for a final touch, John carved his company logo (the Bionicle™ symbol) on the robot's chest.

The robot was really cool. It was about 1 foot taller than the average man. It could move its body in a human-like fashion, and it could say 10 different phrases. It could also recognize faces and voices. And its eyes and mouth could glow in the dark.

The scientists decided to try and make it so the robot could say more, so they recorded and recorded for days and days until the robot could say 100 phrases.

Then they wanted to make it so the robot could say whatever they wanted it to, so they took all the recordings off and had the voice person (who was also a scientist) record all the different sounds of the alphabet onto the robot. Then they hooked the robot up to a computer, so you could type what you wanted it to say, and then you would push a button, and it would say it.

Then the scientist guys decided they should give it a name, so they named it after the guy who started it: Bionicle.

Then suddenly John Bionicle started to think of an idea.

"What if," he said, "we made a whole bunch of robots and put them on an uninhabited island and made them have personalities and just watched to see how they got along with each other?"

A few of the scientists (if you want me to be exact, there were 5 of them), including the voice person, supported John in this idea, but most of them didn't like it.

"Where's the profit in it?" said one.

"And where are we going to get the money to do it?" said another.

"Well, uh, I don't know, but we'll figure something out," John said. Then to the people who were supporting him in the idea, he said, "won't we, guys?"

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Later, the five scientists were invited by John to a sleepover at his house, so they could discuss what they were going to do about this idea about robots.

"You know, John, we need to figure out where we're going to get the money to make all these robots," one of the scientists told John.

"Yeah…I know." And then suddenly John came up with an idea. "I know!" he yelled, "we could have them reproduce themselves!"

The scientists applauded.

"You know what?" said the voice person.

"What?" the other scientists said at the same time. Then they all said "jynx!" at the same time, and they kept saying it again and again and again and again until the voice person said, "STOP!"

They stopped.

"Ahem," the voice person said, "I have been working on a personality program for quite some time now, and all you have to do is hook the robot up to it, and click on a button, and it gives the robot a random personality!"

"WOW!" John said.
