If the Hand Fits

Chapter 1: Hands

Friendship. Friendship can't be broken. Love. Love may be broken, Love may be fixed. Love hurts. So do the hot tears that are stinging my eyes, and running down my face.

Why? Why does love hurt? Why does it hurt more than anything? Broken hearts, torn in two.

Pain, anguish, agony. Words to describe the worst. Love, happiness, pain. Words to describe the best.

Why did I punish him? It was just a stupid hand. We were both happy, until we held hands.

They- they didn't fit. It was uncomfortable. WE weren't meant to be.

You loved me. I did... too. At least I think I did. You made me happy. You made me laugh. But, but I didn't. I didn't love you. I only realised that when we held hands.

We were perfect, until you took my hand in yours. You took it and smiled. I smiled, too, numb from the moment, unable to feel you hand.

It was there, I know it was, but I couldn't feel it. I couldn't feel the shock of electricity you are supposed to feel.

I felt a hand. A hand that didn't fit with mine. It was uncomfortable. It wasn't meant to be.

I held your hand, a million times more. Nothing happened. Nothing changed.

I changed my grip. I tried everything, but nothing happened.

I held your hand, one last time. I held onto it as long as I could. I held it until I could no longer stand it.

When I told you it was over, you stood there, looking blankly. You asked why, and I said it was because of your hand.

And I left you, and you just stood there. It was so painful to leave you, for a stupid hand.

You loved me. I loved you. I-I thought I loved you, but I wouldn't be happy. You wouldn't be happy. We wouldn't be happy at all.

I thought I loved you, Harry, but my hand proved me wrong.
