Zachary couldn't contain his laughter as Bard Martin sat in front of him telling the funniest story Zachary had heard in a while. It was of course about Karigan, and anything he could find out about her was of interest to the King.
"It is rumored that she made it all the way to Darden, which is almost halfway to Sacor city" at this Bard laughed again and had to stop for a few moments to gain some control before continuing "In her nightgown!"
The man in front of Zachary once again could not help but stop laughing hysterically and soon Zachary found himself laughing as he had not in a long time.
"wearing nothing but her nightgown?" Zachary asked in shock
"As I live and breath its true sire! Oh do I wish I could have been there to see it, gave the townspeople something to speak about for weeks. It's not everyday a women comes on a large chestnut wearing scarcely nothing." Bard again snickered wiping away some tears from his eyes.
Zachary smiled widely again shaking his head before Bard continued again. "I had heard that recently and couldn't help but laugh at that. I thought it might bring a smile to your face Excellency."
Zachary laughed and nodded "That is quite the story..." Bard would never know how true his statement would be. Zachary knew that he was enthralled completely with Karigan G'ladheon and anything he could find out about her would bring a smile to his face.
As he bid Bard a good day and thanked him for the uplifting story he remembered the day Karigan had finally reached Sacor city and joined the green riders. He could still picture her walking down the main chamber towards him and how regal she had looked. He couldn't help but stare at her as she gave gentle motions to show off the wares her father had given to the green riders. He couldn't help but think only that she was perfect in every way and if only she had been what the aristocrats called "royal blood" he would have chosen her for a wife in a moment. Only, if she "royal" she would not have the spirit and personality he had so treasured in her, no she would be more like Lady Estora who was nice in her way but lacked what made Karigan special.
Sitting back in his chair and crossing his long legs he placed his head on his curled fist and sighed softly. No, he liked Karigan exactly as she was. She was perfect and amazing...and totally unavailable to him.
