A/N: Ah...

finally i write something that isn't Ib fanfiction...

anyways...

enjoy.

It was a clear spring day.

She was in the eighth month of her seventeenth year...

The cherry trees were in full bloom, scattering the ground with fluffs of pink.

But no matter how beautiful the sky... the nature...

nothing could shine through the darkness of the occasion...

"My lord... When I die...will you still remember me?" How odd... Though only eleven years of age, she contemplates life after death.

I was surprised.

"Don't say such things..." After all you still have your whole life ahead of you...

But to think...

that it would be cut short...

I stiffened when the question was repeated again six years later.

"Forever and always... Rin" I smiled sadly, although she could not see.

She smiled as well. After all the time that had passed... her smile was one thing that hadn't changed.

she shifted her gaze up staring blankly at the sky.

"It's a shame to think I've lost my vision..." She laughed without humor. "I guess now I can't say you were my last sight..."

.

"My lord?"

"Yes?"

"What happens when you die?"

"I do not know..."

She chucked again. "I have died twice in this life time and yet... I still do not know. How odd..."

"All I know is that you move on to a better place..."

Rin was silent. If not for the burning sensation of her hand... Her shallow breathing... I'd think she'd already passed.

"I find that hard to believe..."

I blinked. "What?"

"That... you move to a better place... when you die." She coughed, as she moved her head. Her eyes glazed over, staring passed me. "Because I'm already there... There is no better place... Than with you... My... lord..."

I grasped her hand tighter. I... felt her grow colder... Despite the raging fever she possessed.

"I... am so... glad... to have met you..." She whispered.

"Aishi teru..."

"As do I..." I choked.

She gasped in pain. I strained to hear her words.

"Mata ne... Sheshoumaru..."

A crystal drop streamed down.

As long as it takes...

That day there were many "firsts" For me.

For the first time Rin had truly died.

For the first time, she had called me by my true name...

For the first time I had mourned over the death of another...

And for the first time...

The great Lord of the West cried.
