Axel eyed the young woman, her concentration invested in the gadget in front of her, and he couldn't help but smirk to himself as he took slow, quiet steps behind her. "Tink," his voice was a quick burst next to her ear, his fingertips colliding with the bare skin of her shoulders at the exact same time and he was quick to dodge what happened next.
Tink nearly jumped out of her skin, the screwdriver in her hand becoming a weapon as she swung her arm around on complete instinct. "God damn it, Axel!" she said in frustration, the older man laughing at her reaction and easily moving out of range of the sharp object. She threw the screwdriver to the floor, a metallic clink bouncing with it as it skipped across the concrete floor.
Her nostrils flared as she did her best to calm her nerves. "Don't you have a coma patient to watch, or a vampire to feed?" she asked him through clenched teeth. This wasn't the first time Axel had done this while she was working, and she certainly knew it wasn't going to be the last either. Axel took up residence in the only other chair Tink's makeshift workshop contained, lifting his feet to place them on her workstation and nearly crushing a part of the mechanism she had been working on for months. "Watch it!" she cried, pushing his feet away.
Axel's chair nearly tipped backwards from the force she exerted, some of the tools and pieces that were on the table had been knocked off from his hefty combat boots, but her main concern was the water filtration device she had been working on for almost 2 months. "Sorry, it's a habit." Axel said as he adjusted himself in his seat, watching her fiddle with things he didn't know a thing about. "So, uh, what is it anyway?" he asked as he leaned forward to get a better look.
It always amazed him the things she could create out of basic materials. Tink picked up a smaller screwdriver as she delved right back into her invention, Axel noting how the tool was barely the size of his pinky as she meticulously placed it in a small opening. "It's not an exact water filtration device but it's the closest I could one."
He understood how easy it was for her to get lost in her work, hell even he sometimes found himself mesmerized by the way everything would come together and he wasn't even the one doing anything, so before he lost her once again to her work completely he focused on what he had originally come to do. "How about putting that down and heading to the cafeteria with me to have a nice, hot cup of coffee." he said as he stood, going behind her and placing his hands flat on her shoulders this time. "I haven't seen you come out of this room in a week, and to be frank," he continued as he managed to get her to drop her tools and stand. "Tink, you stink."
She let out a groan as her joints protested and stretched for the first time in a few hours. "You don't exactly smell like roses yourself, B.O Joe." she said and both of them cracked a smile at her play on the term G.I Joe. He draped his arm over her shoulders, guiding her through the door.
"But seriously, Tink, you could use a shower." he told her before giving her a quick noogie and running ahead of her, knowing the erratic temperament of the woman he had grown to love and protect like the sister he lost all those years ago. Except at some point, he lost her too.
