'Diamonds and Donuts'
By Tarrant

It had been a quiet week at the VCTF and Sam was feeling pretty punie. She had had a cold all week so she decided to go home early. She had just set foot in the door when the phone began to ring. Glancing at the caller ID she saw that is was Bailey's private number.

"Hi Bail, what's up?"

"Hey Sam. I hear you aren't feeling to good."

"Well I have felt better." Sam admitted reluctantly.

"I was calling to tell you I am down stairs and would like to come up." Bailey said laughing. "I brought you something to make you feel better."

Sam laughed. "How did you know so quickly Bailey?"

"Can we discuss this face to face please." Bailey said laughing again. Sam giggled and pushed the elevator button to let Bailey up. Arriving at the loft,Bailey opened the door and looked around for Sam. "Sam?" He called confused.

"Just come on in Bail. I'll be right out." In a minute or so Sam came out from
the bedroom. She had changed into some more comfortable clothes. "Hope you don't mind, but I am in for the night." She said waving her hand at the outfit.

Bailey grinned. "I don't care. You look great in anything."

Sam smiled softly and said. "You're sweet. Now what did you bring me?"

Bailey laughed and picked up the bag he had brought, hugging it to him. "Guess."

Sam giggled. "Bailey, I came home not to have to guess anymore today."

Bailey gave her a strange look and then smiled again. "Okay, but you have to
promise that next time you guess."

Sam laughed and grabbed the bag and opened it. She got a huge smile on her face when she saw what he had brought her. Cappuchino and a Krispy Kreme Donut. "I love this!" She said. Coming close to him she put her arms around him"You know me so well Bailey. I love you. Thank you!"

Bailey picked her up and swung her around. Laughing he said. "You are very easy to please Sam."

Sam put her head down on his shoulder and nuzzled her face into his neck. "I am
feeling better already. You are very good medicine." Bailey carried her to the sofa and set her down gently. "So how did you know I snuck out of the office so quickly?"

Bailey looked a little sheepish. "Sam I know every thing you do. I love you. I know when you breathe. Besides I know you haven't felt well this week and I know you cleared your schedule for this afternoon. Since you hate to see doctors I figured you were just coming home."

Sam giggled. "I hate to be that predictable."

"Sam, I hope you don't mind I know you so well. But after all these years, I should."

Sam leaned against him and opened the bag again pulling out the donut and the cappuchino. "Well having you know me so well has its advantages."She took a big bite from the donut and looked a little surprised. Carefully she removed the object from her mouth she had just bitten down on. It was a large diamond engagement ring. With wide eyes she looked at Bailey. "Bailey?"

Bailey was grinning at her. "Whats the matter Sam, I thought you liked surprises?"

Sam looked at the ring again and then back at Bailey. "This is for me?"

Bailey laughed loudly. "Of course it is. It's your donut isn't it?" Then he got a serious look on his face and said. "Sam will you marry me?"

Sam smiled and turned to face Bailey. Putting her arms around him she kissed him with passion. Finally when they needed oxygen they pulled away and Sam said, "Oh God Bailey you have made me so happy. Yes! I will marry you. I love you with all my heart."

Bailey wrapped his arms tightly around Sam and pulled her as close to him as possible. "Sam, I love you with every breath I take. I am so glad you will be my wife. I promise, we are going to be so happy."
