Slytherin induced hopping
Heya this is my second one shot, it's mostly canon I think. It's basically that bit in the book where Neville is the target of one Malfoy's pranks and he has to hop back to the dormitory for someone to perform the counter curse!
Disclaimer- Unfortunately I still don't own Harry Potter! Narks!
Neville was just walking along the fifth floor corridor, by the transfiguration classrooms minding his own business when behind him he heard the cold voice of Draco Malfoy. "What are you doing here Longbottom? Shouldn't you be in your common room with your precious Potter?" He sneered.
I-I-I was just….." Neville stuttered turning to face Malfoy.
"Uh pathetic" Malfoy's cold eyes danced with excitement about the upcoming humiliation of a Gryffindor. "What did you bribe the sorting hat to put you in Gryffindor? I thought you were supposed to be brave." Draco mocks turning up his pointy nose as if Neville was a piece of dirt on the bottom of his shoe. Neville blushed beet red and looked at his feet.
"Goyle show Neville exactly what the downside of having to walk up so many stairs to get back to your common room is," The Slytherin laughs.
"Locomotor Mortis." Goyle shouts firmly binding Neville's legs together and making him topple over and hit the floor with a loud thwack!
"Have fun Longbottom," Jeers Malfoy initiating a round of cackles from his cronies before he sweeps off, leaving Neville very much alone.
"Oh balls…." Neville says under his breath. Mentally cursing him for not knowing the counter curse, or in fact being able to stand up to Malfoy. "What am I supposed to do now?" he asked himself although the answer was obvious he was going to have to bunny hop all the way back to the common room where somebody might know the counter curse. So with a resigned sigh he pulled himself from the cold marble floor and began the journey.
Around ten minutes later Neville was met with his first obstacle, a flight of stairs. He took the first jump and cleared the step and repeated this three times before collapsing and sliding to the bottom quite painfully. Neville knew he had to think of a better plan. So he sat on the step and used his arms to pull him up. This was a slow process and it took Neville ten minutes to slide up a stair case that would normally take you a minute. Neville came up with some very colourful curses for those stupid Slytherins (A/N just keeping it clean guys!) along the way.
When he finally made it to the top of stairs puffing and panting. As he began to hop along the corridor. Suddenly a turned up carpet makes him lose his balance and he comes crashing down on to the floor very painfully. Neville swore under his breath and dragged himself back up.
He was sweating when the Fat Lady came into view, but he was so close he wasn't going to give up now, he tumbled down again but got back up and completed the journey. "Bertie Botts." He panted at the Fat Lady who gave him a strange look but obligingly swung open anyway. Neville gave the biggest leap of his life before collapsing on the other side of the portrait hole with a smile.
The last thing he heard was Harry's surprised yelp of "Neville!" before he fell asleep from exhaustion.
I know it's short and I know that's not what happens at the end, but I just thought it was a cute bit of Neville! Thanks don't forget to drop a review! Pretty please! I don't care what it says I just want your feedback!
