It was late at night in Cafe Musain. A student by the name of Louis Montique found himself talking with Enjolras;

"even though the fight is long and hard, if we fall here- the sunlight shall touch our tombs and in the future the people will rise. The day is coming, I do believe it will. Citizens of France are demanding the government represent them, and they have the right to form their own businesses, and have liberty of expression."" Enjolras concluded his speech with a smile,

Montique- the leader of the Les Amis de 'lABC looked at Enjolras "Why Enjolras, you have shown your credentials to me and the rest of the amis and I express my faith in you. Welcome to the amis!"

Montique came up to the amis the next day and invented a secret handshake "with this handshake I swear my fidelity to the les amis de 'lABC."

Enjolras was a tad taken back but accepted the handshake "we will be distributing pamphlets in Paris today, here is your stack." Montique smiled "you can count on me!" he said as he left to deliver pamphlets and the amis dispersed.

"Citizens! We the people of France have been suffering under the oppression of a monarchy for quite some time. The light shall come though, but it will not come without sacrifice on our part!" Enjolras was speaking on a street corner when he saw it- the national guardsmen were coming. The crowd looked fearfully at each other, and the members dispersed. Enjolras saw the man talking to the national guard- it was Montique. The national guard did nothing to harm the mob, but merely kept marching.

That night at the Musain, the amis were gathered again. Bahorel was trying to defeat Feuilly at cards. Grantaire was drinking, Jehan was writing. Courfeyrac and Combeferre sat by Enjolras who was slowly drinking his coffee. "I wonder where this Montique person is..." said Courfeyrac. Enjolras looked at Courfeyrac "I saw him talking with the national guard today, perhaps he was getting their plans? the revolution is very near."

Just that moment Montique came into the cafe with a National Guard hat on "Citizens, I have joined the National Guard." the amis looked at each other in shock. "Enjolras, I just want to let you know your cause is stupid and bound for failure. I did agree with you, but that time is dead and gone. Get over yourself or you will be destroyed. Be on your watch, or you may find yourself under the blade of the guillotine for being a traitor." Montique left the cafe with a smirk on his face.

"That traitor! I want to give him a trip to the guillotine!" Bahorel roared

"Calm down Bahorel, not everybody will stand with us. Some are just that, traitors." Enjolras grunted.

The amis gradually left the Musain in silence,

Enjolras and Combeferre were the only ones left, Combeferre could sense Enjolras' frustration, although Enjolras tried to hide it.

"Enjolras, Montique is bothering you right?"

"I had so much hope in this revolution, I thought he believed as we do. I thought once somebody had their eyes opened, there was no way they could betray us."

Combeferre looked sadly at his friend "Montique is a traitor- you said so yourself, just because he fell does not mean others will not rise. Maybe it is up to you Enjolras, take control of the Les Amis. Humans are fallible, but the ideals of the revolution will live on."

From this moment forth- Enjolras became a mature and grown individual. Enjolras loved his friends dearly, but was never going to get his hopes too high in somebody else. The amis never saw Montique again until the day of revolution, as Montique aimed his rifle to pierce through Enjolras.
