"So..."
"So what?"
"Whatever."
Anna looked down, her cheeks suddenly reddened.
"Tell me!"
Jeremy was sketching in the old cemetary, when Anna had suddenly appeared.
"It...It's nothing. Keep sketching."
Jeremy snorted and grabbed Anna by the wrist as she tried to escape again.
"Anna, what were you going to say?"
"I just ...I..."
Jeremy smiled softly at Anna's troubled expression, and kissed her forehead lightly.
"Anna, spit it out."
Anna sighed.
"It's the Founders Ball..."
Jeremy suddenly frowned.
"You're not trying to get me to go, are you?"
"I...no I wasn't..."
Jeremy raised his eyebrows, and chuckled.
"Okay, I was."
Anna looked at him hopefully, only to see Jeremy's skepitcal expression.
"You know I don't dance."
"Yeah, but..."
"Shhh...your ruining my sketching mood."
Anna rolled her eyes and sighed angrily.
"Fine. I'll just go with Tyler Lockwood."
Jeremy looked up at that, and eased Anna back down beside him.
"Relax, I never said I wasn't going."
Anna contemplated for a moment, then snuggled back beside Jeremy.
...
"So, are you going?"
"Maybe."
"Dammit, Jer. You're ruining my buzz. Can you do something fun for ONCE in your life?"
"It's really not my scene."
"Well then what IS your scene? You don't do parades, you don't do karaoke..."
"Anna, I thought you knew what you were getting into when you became my girlfriend."
Jeremy was looking into her eyes now. Brown met brown.
"I know, but im tired of having to accomodate you. Im a girl, a normal girl with normal needs!"
"Oh yeah? Is the need for human blood one of your 'normal' girl needs?"
Anna jerked away from Jeremy, tears welling up in her eyes.
"All I ever wanted was to live a normal life, with you. But you just have to remind me, don't you?"
Jeremy looked horrified as tears streamed down Anna's face and splashed onto her jeans.
"Anna, im sorry..."
"Just, don't."
Anna pushed Jeremy away, and their entertwined fingers unlocked. An invisible barrier had gone up between them.
The forest rustled behind Anna as she made her way through the forest.
'Anna. Anna wait!"
Anna took a deep breath and forced herself not to look back.
"Anna!"
Two strong hands grabbed her, and spun her around.
Anna glared at Jeremy.
"What?"
Jeremy lifted up his sketch book, and flipped it up for Anna to see.
Two shadows on a balcony, dancing. Scrawled on the corner of the page was: Anna, will you go to the ball with me?
"Jer, I..."
"Shhh..."
Jeremy took Anna's hands and kissed her. Salty tears slid down her face.
...
At the ball, Jeremy sighed as he looked around at all the glamour.
He nearly regretted coming.
Suddenly, an angel came in to view.
It was Anna, in a flowing blue silk dress. She smiled as she glided over to Jeremy.
"Still sporting the hoodie?"
Jeremy chuckled.
Anna reached up and softly pulled the hoodie down.
"What are you doing?"
"I like you better like this."
Jeremy frowned.
"Why?"
"Because I can see you smile."
And then Anna gave him a genuine smile, right then and there, and Jeremy thought his heart would stop.
Suddenly, Genevieve Scott came skuttling over. She reached Jeremy, and winked flirtingly.
"Hey, Germster. Wanna dance?"
Anna scowled at Genevieve.
"Um, I'm okay for now."
Jeremy was laughing.
Anna glared at him, and he silenced immediatly.
Genevieve rolled her eyes, and stalked off.
"I like her the color of her dress."
Jeremy let his eyes linger on Genevieve.
"Why!"
Anna was really angry now.
"Because it's the color of your eyes..."
And Jeremy leaned down and kissed Anna softly, before swooping her onto the dancefloor.
