[SETTING: One day after Alyssa talks to her Grandfather at the hospital.]
Ty stood alone on the sandy beach of the ocean. He looked at his watch and sighed. It was 3:17; the same time it had been when he had looked at it about thirty seconds ago. As his clothes had been thoroughly soaked the day before, he was wearing Alyssa's Uncle's old cutoffs. Last night he had been up waiting for a call from his mother or Randon. At 2:00 am it had finally come in. Now he was standing on the bank, squinting into the sun, looking for the speck he knew would be the shrimp boat. He recalled the conversation he had shared with his sisters the night before…

[SETTING: The night before.]
"Ty!" Squealed Marie over the radio. "Ty, where are you?!" Suzanne who had heard the commotion from above soon joined her.
"Ty! Momma's been worried 'bout you and Randon's been lookin' for you too 'cause Momma told him she hit him over the head and that you lied 'bout him fallin' and he said—"
"Hold it, Suzanne!" Ty finally managed to butt in. "One thing at a time, okay? Now, what did Momma tell Randon?"
"She told him that she hit him on the head with the shovel, but—"
"Is she okay? Where is she? Where is Randon? Did he start—"
"I'm trying to tell you," Suzanne yelled fairly loudly into the radio. "I've been trying to tell you, but nooo, you had to butt in and ask all—"
"TELL ME!!"
"Well fine, if you're gonna be that way 'bout it. Randon started drinking to 'get rid of the buzzing in his head.' Momma didn't know he'd started and told him 'bout the shovel and he got mad and was gonna hit her, but the shrimp man-people stopped him and locked him in one of the rooms and he fell asleep." Here she started to giggle. "I told them they should've just throwed him overboard with the rest of his kind, but they didn't understand me."
Ty started laughing too. "Probably for the best."

[SETTING: Present day on the bank.]
Thinking of this put a smile on his face and he waited patiently for the boat, knowing that whatever happened, he'd always have someone to brighten his day, as there is nothing better than family.
