Dislcaimer I don't own anything other then the idea for this little piece. Everything else is TPs
This is short but sweet:
He found her sitting on the edge of camp tears streaming down her face. He sat down next to her and slung his arm around her and offered her the comfort of his company as she cried herself to sleep.
The second night he found her in front of her tent. No tears, just sad eyes. He sat by her again and pulled her to him and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
Her face turned up to his and he repeated the motion. This time he was kissing her lips.
He had meant it to be a comfort kiss, from one friend to another. Like an older brother and a younger sister.
It didn't stay that way. She pulled him back into her tent and in a rush of untied laces and hastily discarded clothes they made love.
It was hard. It was fast. It was desperate. It was an escape.
They woke up on that third and final day of battle tangled together her head on his shoulder and his hands on her waist.
It didn't matter that they both had family at home or that they both knew it was only for one night. They had found a peace being with each other as they had often been while training to be knights.
They prepared for that last day of battle and before they rode out he found her and cupped her face in his hand and kissed her one last time.
"Kel, last night was wonderful. And don't worry you'll see me again"
Kel waved as he went to his side of the soldiers and she rode of to hers.
The battle was fierce and hard and men on both sides had been lost. But the Tortallan side had pulled through once again.
And Kel did see him again. She saw him carried past her delirious with fever with wounds in his arm and leg.
She sat with him for a while in the healer's tent.
And the fourth night passed and after that she didn't see him again. He had passed into the Peaceful Realms and she prayed that he would truly be at peace there.
9 months later Kel was lying in bed her hair matted with sweat as she gasped and pushed according to what the midwife told her too. She gripped her husbands hand and as she pushed the last time her baby boy came into the world with only a single cry.
She smiled a sad little smile as she held her baby. She knew what she had to do and she named him in honor of her fallen friend.
She named him Faleron.
Well...tell me what you think. I blame Aurorax for this. She wrote an amazing one shot about Faleron and how he died. And I was really moved by it and then I couldn't get it out of my head... so please Review. Its short but I didn't want to drag it out. Tell me what you think :)
