The sun was coming up and shinning brightly through the window. It glimmered over Vaughn's face, as he lay in bed asleep. The bright sunshine danced on his face as he started to awake.
The bed was a two-post dark brown oak with lines carved in it for decoration. The sheets were white, with a thick navy blue comforter. The pillows were feather ones and felt like a cloud. There were two windows in the room, one on each side of the bed. The morning light was just coming up.
Vaughn turned his head a little to escape from the sun light but it followed. Eventually Vaughn gave in and fluttered his eyes open. That followed by a deep yawn. It was only 7:00am. as he read on his clock. He just smiled and slowly nestled back down more into the bed.
He could smell her. He knew without looking she was there next to him asleep. The woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with was lying beside him, Sydney. He just pulled her closer to his body. She stirred a bit. She flinched open one eye to she what was going on. When she saw his green eyes staring at her she closed her eyes again, and a smile spread across her face. She didn't say anything just snuggled in closer to Vaughn.
Vaughn lay on his back. He moved his right arm around Sydney's back and tucked her close to him. Sydney turned on her side facing in towards Vaughn. She rested her head on his upper chest, then placed an arm over his shoulder on that side and the hand rested by his neck. Vaughn reached his free hand on his stomach and laid it there on top of Syd's hand that lay on his abdomen. Sydney started to play with Vaughn's feet with hers, their legs entwined. Vaughn's arm moved up and down Syd's back to comfort her. They were lost in each other's touch.
Neither could fall back asleep but didn't move in fear to show they were awake to the other. If they were awake they might have to move, and they were both quite comfortable. Sydney could tell by Vaughn's uneven breathing that he was still awake. She lifted her head, Vaughn started to turn his head to see why she moved but before he could see, she answered his question. She leaned in and deeply kissed him.
Their lips stayed locked for a while. Each other's hands running up and down the other's bodies exploring. When they finally needed air they broke apart, just an inch or so. They remained totally entwined in each other. A smile appeared on both faces. "What was that for" Vaughn questioned, but didn't complain. Syd just leaned in once more and kissed him, but this one just a quick peck on the lips then pulled back. "I love you, you, you."
Vaughn sat up immediately in bed. His eyes wide open. What just happened? He wasn't frightened or sweating, just had a smile on his face and breathing hard. It was a dream. He wished it were true but knew it was just one more of those dreams, he lived in of Syd and him. He regretted only one thing about this dream; he didn't get to tell her he loved her too.
He didn't want that to be real, nope not until sd6 was gone. Other wise this would all be another lie. Vaughn was happy with this 'glimpse of heaven' though because he knew it was more like a 'glimpse of the future' instead.
Now the only thing on his mind was the phone call he was waiting for from Sydney saying she was back from her mission a-ok, and safe back home! That was enough for him now!
*Ok, it didn't come out quite as good as I wanted but at least it's decent. This is just a quicky in between thing before I start my next real story.
