OK, so this is probably not what you're expecting for the ZombieApocalypse!Klaine AU Friday, but eh, trying to think outside the box, I guess. Hope you like it!
"Blaine, turn it off!" Kurt screeched, burying his face into Blaine's chest.
"Kurt, it's not that bad, come on, I got you," Blaine said soothingly, trying to hide his own disgust as a zombie onscreen bit a chunk out of someone's arm. The screams pouring from the speakers just had Kurt hiding his face deeper in Blaine's sweater.
"Blaine, this movie is about a zombie apocalypse, and you know I hate zombies!"
"Kurt, you hate vampires."
"Yeah well, they're both creepy and they bite things, there's not much of a difference!" Kurt shouted, clutching Blaine's sleeves for dear life.
"Come on, Kurt, you don't have to look. Just look right at me," Blaine said tenderly, angling Kurt's face upward so they were eye-to-eye.
It was like time slowed down when their eyes met. That always seemed to happen whenever they shared even just a fleeting glance. Kurt's hand unconsciously reached towards Blaine's face, his fingertips lightly dragging across the stubbly skin of Blaine's jaw.
"So gorgeous," Kurt murmured. He instinctively leaned in closer, ready to connect their lips…until a bloodcurdling shriek from the TV startled them both. "Alright, that's it!"
Kurt leaped up and shut the TV off, the image of a zombie literally biting a girl's head off being replaced by black.
"Kurt!"
"Oh, like you were watching," Kurt spat bitterly, sitting on the couch and facing away from his boyfriend. Blaine could hear something…dark in his voice. Something he didn't like.
"Kurt," Blaine said warily, shuffling closer to his boyfriend. He tried to splay his fingers across Kurt's arm, but Kurt jolted away with a huff. "Baby, what's wrong?"
Kurt sighed, turning towards Blaine, who gasped when he saw hot tears running down Kurt's cheeks.
"Oh God, babe!" Blaine said in shock, pulling Kurt into his arms as he began to cry even harder.
"It's just…when I was little, these boys at school dressed up at zombies for Halloween, and it freaked me out. When they saw I was scared…they locked me in a closet and started banging on the door and moaning 'brains' over and over before they had to go outside for the costume parade. When they came back inside, they forgot I was in there, and I was too afraid to bang on the door because I thought they were still out there. God, I was in there for what seemed like hours…I know, it's really stupid-"
"No, no, don't say that, Kurt," Blaine said, tilting his boyfriends face towards his. "It was a traumatizing childhood experience that still bothers you, and honestly, I'd be surprised if it didn't. And God, I'm so sorry I kept insisting the movie stay on. I should've realized that something was wrong, and-"
"No, no, shh, it's fine," Kurt said, placing his finger on Blaine's lips before replacing it with his own. "I love you so much."
Blaine sighed contentedly, leaning back in for a slightly-longer kiss.
"I love you too," Blaine said. Suddenly feeling a bit silly, Blaine tugged Kurt into his lap with a goofy grin. "And I'll always protect you from the big bad zombies."
"You're insufferable."
"You love it."
"Do I?"
"Yes."
"You're wrong."
"Am I?"
"…No."
Hehe :) Short oneshot is short.
