Boruto didn't get it. Why did his parents leave him with his grandpa and Aunt Hanabi. He hadn't done anything wrong, so why was he left behind.
"Don't worry your dad will be here later, and by the time he comes you'll either have a baby brother or a baby sister," Hanabi said as she noticed the concerned look on the five year old's face.
"Is that why mom and dad are gone? Because of the baby?" asked Boruto.
"Yup!" replied Hanabi.
Suddenly, a light bulb lit up in Boruto's mind. 'It all makes sense now! This was the baby's fault! That's why dad was acting funny and rushing. Then is the baby hurting mom? Or why was mom in pain? Is mom okay?' Boruto thought as tears started to gather in his eyes. "I want my mom," he said quietly as tears started streaming down his face.
"Come here," Hanabi said as she opened her arms up to him, resulting in Boruto's tight hug. "I promise she's ok. She's just preparing for the baby. You will get to see her soon."
Boruto was so excited. His dad had finally picked him up, so now they were at the hospital making their way to Hinata's room.
"Ready to see mom and the baby?" asked Naruto.
"Yeah!" exclaimed Boruto as he wanted to make sure his mom really was ok. When Naruto opened the door. Hinata was on her bed with a smile on her face as she saw her two favorite men.
"Hey sweetie," Hinata said to Boruto.
"Mom!" Boruto yelled as he ran to be by her side. However, once he got there, he frowned as he saw Hinata was holding the baby. 'It's that stupid baby's fault mom's in here!'
"This is your baby sister Himawari, would you like to hold her?" asked Hinata.
Boruto shrugged, he didn't want to see the baby, he was still mad at the baby for hurting Hinata. However, Hinata and Naruto took that shrug as him being nervous about the baby.
"Ok, up with Mom and Himawari-chan," Naruto said as he placed Boruto on the bed with Hinata.
"Lean all the way back, ok now stick your arms out," Hinata instructed. "The baby is a little heavy so hold her tight," Hinata then carefully placed a sleeping Himawari in Boruto's arms.
The instant Boruto had Himawari in his arms, all his anger disappeared. "Wow! She's so cute!" Boruto exclaimed with a grin as he looked up at his parents.
"I thought so too, she looks a lot like mom right?" commented Naruto with a grin of his own.
Boruto merely nodded and continued to watch his sister. After a few minutes Boruto surprised them by telling Himawari, "I'll always protect you," he then gave Himawari a kiss on the forehead. Which lead to Himawari smiling in her sleep. Naruto and Hinata felt their hearts explode with joy as they were already witnessing the strong connection the siblings had.
