Chapter 1: Question

Rowan looked at the group of teenagers in front of him with a heavy sigh. He counted the group and waited a second when he thought he'd counted wrong. There should have been nine of them but one was missing, and that one was a person that never was late when he was called to come to him or when Rowan called him to a mission.

"Where in the world is Alex?" he said outloud.

"Currently? Having a staring match with an owl in his room."

"What?" the others asked when they looked to Danny.

"I didn't put it on there but its a big owl. They were glaring at each other and something tells me that owl is in for it." Danny stopped in time for them to hear a loud bang across the castle followed by a squak and another crash.

They heard silence before another rattle was heard. The door burst open and in walked a certain white haired boy before he slammed the door shut. Black feathers were caught in his hair and a few small scratches were on his cheek. The owl on the other side of the door was attacking it trying to get to him.

"What the hell happened to you?" asked Jake.

"The owl doesn't like vampires. By the way we have mail." Alex tossed the letters to Rowan who looked at them oddly.

"Doesn't look like something another branch would send us," he stated.

The group took their seats on the sofa and chairs in the room while Rowan looked at them. The first letter was addressed to Alex the rest to the others in the room. He glanced up before looking back at the envelopes.

"Well, there addressed to all of you. As to what they're about I..." a letter fell out addressed to him.

"This one is addressed to me." he took it and gulped a bit. They had been warned about a attack being placed on the order from the other orginazations. In China two of their workers were expossed to anthrax and nearly died. The thought that these were letters containing that desieases spors was a frightening thought.

"Maybe I should open it," Alex stated.

"No, if its that illness in here then..." Rowan was cut off.

"I don't need to breath and I can close my airways so nothing can get in my body through that and it has to be inhailed, secondly my body is unable to catch that virus because I have an immediate immunity to almost every illness," Alex informed him.

"If your sure." Alex took the letter from him and moved to the fire place where a fire was currently going. Heat would destroy it and they had all been given the vacine that the order had made, but he wasn't taking chances. Waiting a moment he opened it up fully and turned to him when he noticed the fine emerald ink and not a sign of dust or powders that would carry it.

"It's from a man named Albus Dumbledor," he said handing him the letter. Sitting back down he took a breath out opening his airways again.

"Interesting trick...when did you learn how to do that?" deep red eyes looked to Danny who was looking at him with a questioning.

"When I had to go into a burning building and couldn't stop coughing. I was about fifteen when that happened so I...well I did it by taking in a breath and holding it at first then I realized that even though my chest felt tight my airways were closed and I was fine."

"Makes me wish I could do that," said Kent.

"Trust me you don't want to bother with that."

"Well Rowan...what does the letter say?" asked Rain.

"Dear Mr. Hawkins, I wish to inform you of my impending visit to your order in a few short hours. I will be arriving directly at four today and I hope to be welcomed politely, please drop your wards for three seconds so I may enter, I mean you or your workers no harm but I desperately need to speak with you and those who have received letters to. I request that they be present when I arrive, sincerely yours,

Albus Dumbledor Order of Merlin first class, Grand Socerer, Supreme mugwump of the international confederation of Wizards and chief warlock of the wizengmot." Rowan blinked twice at the letter then looked to Alex who seemed tense.

It was a well known fact that vampires despised witches and wizards with a passion. There were two different types of power in the world. The magic of the witches and wizards, and the magik of the vampires. The powers from the magik a vampire used was far older and beyond more powerful thus causing a great clash between the two races. The fact that as of now Alex looked ready to completely murder someone was enough of an answer for him.

"Calm down Alex he just wants to talk to us I'm sure that..." he was stopped when the boy put a hand up to tell him he'd heard enough.

"I don't want to deal with those useless excuses. Vampires and wizards cannot get along normally, I won't do anything, but I will say I'm not comfortable with them being present," he stated.

"I understand Alex, but we might as well see what the man wants." he received a quick nod from him before they set to waiting.

Rowan ordered the guards dropped at exactly four and when they were a bright green flame came from his fire place and stopped as they brought the wards back up and they were able to see a man standing there. He wore a pair of dark purple colored robes that reminded Alex greatly of some of the things people wore when he was little. He had half-moon glasses on his nose that looked as if it had been broken at one point, a long silver beard and equally long hair that looked as if it could have been tucked into his belt several times. He had a cap upon his head that favored a sleeping hat and a pale looking wand in his hand.

He stepped from the fireplace and settled his wand into his belt before looking across the room, his eyes settling on the white haired boy who was sitting in the chair looking as still as a statue. He smiled to him and received a sharp, blood red glare fangs bared in a silent hiss. He sighed and came towards the man at the desk who was standing to meet him. The teenagers in the room minus the tensed boy were looking on in awe at the man. He came to Rowan and took his hand to shake it before smiling.

"You must be Rowan Hawkins, my name is Albus Dumbledore I hope I'm not intruding," he said as he looked to Alex who let a small growl come from him.

"No, you aren't. It's a pleasure to meet you as well sir please have a seat." he settled down in his own as he watched the elderly man take a seat near him.

"Thank you now, I came to ask if you are willing to send your...to be honest I am not sure what you call these young people," he said honestly.

"They're workers but also my family."

"I see. I was wondering if you would like to allow your charges to enter my school for some time and be present for the year," he said.

"What? You want us to come to your school but we don't even know what you teach." Danny looked enterested, but highly unsure of what to say.

"Magic. It's hogwarts school of Witchcraft and wizardry," Dumbledore stated.

"No." he turned to the white haired boy and raised an eyebrow.

"Pardon me?" he asked.

"I don't want any part of this or do I want my friends apart of it."

"Ah I see...if I may?" he looked to Rowan who nodded.

Dumbledore stood and walked towards Alex who instantly shrunk back into the back of the chair his fangs bared at the man who came to him. The old wizard slowly reached his hand out to place his fingers under the boy's chin to make him look at him better. Scalding pure red eyes locked onto his own blue ones with a murderous intent. He knew a young vampire when he saw one but he had yet to see one as pretty as the boy before him. Though he had the appearance of a small built sixteen year old he was older than Dumbledore himself. A feral sounding growl came forward but the boy was kept in a staring contest with the man.

"How interesting. Your very different from any vampire I have ever seen," he stated as he stepped back the boy shoving him away. Dumbledore waited a moment and watched the look of hatred gathering in his eyes before he looked him over again.

"An quite a beauty but your tolerence for a wizard or witches magic is remarkable. Vampires normally attack us unless they've grown accustom to us but you haven't been around our kind before have you?" he asked.

"Not often. I only have one person that I like you. She's a witch, but a nice girl and we're okay as friends I guess but I haven't seen her in a long time."

"I haven't gotten your name, my deputy headmistress Minerva McGonagall writes the letters normally and I have yet to get all of your names," he stated.

"Alex Rouge."

"Pardon? Rouge? My you are quite old. Excuse me Mr. Hawkins may I see the letters," Dumbledore asked as he stepped towards the man. He handed the man the letters and he looked to the people they were addressed to.

"I'll give you the letters by your names please read them over so I might have an answer," he said.

Rain, Danny, June, Lila, Kent, Jake, Mark, Sena, and Alex received their letters and the man awaited their answers. Alex felt as if he was walking into another war and couldn't avoid it. The question was, what would the others do if something happened? With a sigh he looked down at the letter.

HOGWARTS SCHOOL

of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Dear Mr. Rouge,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted

find enclosed a list of all neccasary books and equipment.

Term beings September 1. We await your owl by no later

than July 31. Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall

deputy headmistress .

Alex glared down at it before sighing heavily. He knew that this would't have been a big problem but he was certain that the man before him desperately needed help and he was turning to the order of the rose for it. For some reason he wasn't sure he liked the thought of people doing something and them being trapped in a school full of witches and wizards. His first concern was that he was a vampire, and he could do magic but it would be a problem if he got caught drinking blood or worse. With a heavy sigh he looked to the man. Albus Dumbledore was watching him with those light blue kind yet mischevous eyes.

"I see you need our help then?" he asked.

"Yes I do. The order of the rose doesn't swiftly destroy but they are good at investigation as well as infiltration which is what we need. I want all of you to stick close to a group of students this year." Dumbledore watched the boy for a moment.

"Who?" asked Danny.

"Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Last year one of the darkest wizards of our time returned after fourteen years of near death. I hate to ask this but I need all of you to help the order of the pheonix. Without it we might lose this war."

"Wait just a minute...you want us to join you at your school as students so that we're there for dispatch if this dark wizard appears?" asked Mark.

"Sadly yes. I wouldn't ask if I could avoid it but...people are dying and we are running out of time."

"Well despite it being a school of magic and the fact that we're basically being asked to run around pretending we're not here to find out what more is happening and help an entire order defeat this nut case I can't stand by knowing that innocent people are dying. If you want my help then I'll do it," Alex told him.

"If he's going then we are to no exceptions." the others were nodding and the old wizard smiled.

"Then I suppose I will go and let you all meet Hagrid at the Leaky caldrun tomorrow in London. From there he will take you to get your supplies and then you may remain there at the Inn until time for the semester to begin. We will sort you at the Inn I'll have Minerva bring the hat," Dumbledore stated.

"Hold on a hat? Sorting? What are you talking about?"

"The hat will sort you into one of the four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenlclaw, and Slytherin. Each house values different things. Gryffindor values courage, bravary, nerve and chilvary. Hufflepuff values hardwork, patience, justic, and loyalty. Ravenclaw was founded on the values of intelligence, creativity, learning and wit. The last Slytherin has been known to produce dark wizards but they also were founded on a value line of ambition, cunning, leadership, and resourcefullness."

"Alex is either a lion or a snake," snickered Danny who instantly was hit over the head with a book from Alex.

"Shut up Danny. So your saying all of us could end up in different houses? Is there any way we can remain in the same one. It'll be easier to keep this together if we're at least in the same house or in ones that get along. Which I"m guessing Slytherin and Gryffindor don't," stated Alex.

"It is true. But may I ask what the boy meant by you either being a snake or a lion?"

"Alex is just like the gryffindor's values but he's also got a sadistic streak in him," stated Rain.

"I see. Well we're figure it out from here. I will see all of you on the start of the semester."

with that the man walked to the fireplace Rowan allowed the wards to be dropped and the man walked inside the fireplace and tossed the powder to the ground after say: Hogwarts School. They stared in surprise and then looked to each other. Alex's thin shoulders visibly relaxed.

"Well...that was interesting," said June.

"I'll say. I guess we should pack up and head out to London." Rowan nodded and the group headed out.

Alex as he began to pack his clothes up for the year they'd be there he started to think on the events that had taken place. This was going to be an odd, but interesting year. Trick was sitting on his bed watching as he folded each set of clothes up and put them in the suitcases and bags. Rowan said to take all they would need and he felt the need to know that there would be safety somehow. That they weren't walking into a war that would never end. He zipped up the last one and put it by the door. They were still wearing their uniforms and figured it'd be best if they did. Alex had leared to expect someone to attack at any moment.

"Master are you sure this is a good idea?" asked the little bat.

"Honestly? No I don't but Trick...there are innocent people dying every day because of this dark wizard. I can't stand by and not have that on my conciousness. It goes against my own self beleifs and against my vow. I won't kill an innocent soul again, but I can't just stand by and watch others die like that."

"Then I will go with you and make sure all goes as we want it to," Trick said.

"I believe that we're only supposed to have either a frog, cat, or owl Trick."

"Alex I am your familiar whever you go I will follow," he said.

"Alright. Well are you ready to go?" Alex pulled on a coat and zipped it up before tugging on his gloves. Best to keep them on in case. Sometimes the power strength of the scythe he used was more than capable of burning even him its master.

"Yes master Alex!" said the bat as he flew after his master.

Alex met with the others at the exit of the castle where they would head out to board a train that would take them into London. From there they would go to the Leaky Caludrun where they would meet Hagrid and gather their supplies for the school. Knowing that he was willingly entering a school filled to the brim with witches and wizards was something that surprisingly enough didn't bother Alex. He was around plenty of them at Shadowwood Academy therefore this would be something that hardly worried him.

What did bother him though and kept him in deep thought as they boarded the train, was that this Voldemort person was ghastly enough to dare and harm innocent lives. Alex couldn't turn a blind eye to that any easier than Danny could to a clear opening for a great practical joke. The ride over was filled with Danny's impractical attitude, Rain and June trying to calm him down and Sena nodding off against his shoulder. He was looking out the window noticing the heavy rain that had settled in on them. The air was supposed to be warm, but it felt to cold for normal British weather. If anything he and those who had grown up in England would know that something was wrong with the weather if someone asked.

While the others were distracted Alex caught sight of a black cloaked figure steadily floating past their train. He watched as he felt the sense of danger rise in him like a wild fire. Whatever it was Alex knew it wasn't good. The mere site had his entire body and mind telling him that this was a bad sign. He let it slip and decided to not let anyone know what he'd seen. After all, just because it was something that bothered him didn't completely mean that it was a threat to anyone. People found him threatening and he was rather dolice and kind to them.

When the train stopped at the station he felt as if he was going to be a long trip, but when they got out and a triple decker bus pulled up they all were taken off guard. Danny stared up and then to the others who raised their shoulders in a collected shrug. Lila and June seemed impressed as did the others but he felt as if there was something not quite right. It might have been the fact that the bus radiated so much magic that he felt uncomfortable.

"Dis is de night bus...all aboard ou's commin' aboard," said Stan.

"Hello are you the driver?" asked Mark nervously.

"Do ya think I wearin' dis hat for nuthin? Get on we gotta get ch'a to de leaky caludrun," the man stated in his poor slang used dialect.

They boarded the bus and Alex sat exactly where he could – if he wished to- duck under the seat and hide. The bus just didnt' sit well with him. As soon as Stan looked at his passangers his eyes landed on the white mop of messy hair and scalding red eyes before he came forward as the bus put up protective charms and barers. Alex stiffened visibly when he noticed the charms were up. As the driver came forward he relaxed and then looked to the others.

"A'right...welcome to da nightbus...be ready for a fun ride eh?" he looked to Alex who shrunk down into his seat to get away from the other.

"You de first one I seen like that...nice work on da color charm boy," he said trying to pat Alex's head. A irritated growl left him and instantly Stan backed up as if he'd been burnt.

"Do...Not...Touch Me!" sharp fangs bared the driver gulped.

"V-vampires ain't supposed to be round witches and wizards ya know...but ya a vamp and ya seem fine," he said.

"I'm semi used to magic. I have a friend who is a witch and we get along well enough. I don't quite care but I don't like being touched by people who have a bitter stench of black magic on them." Alex was still watching him warily.

"Dat was frum when me mum was killed by a death eater. Nasty bruts if ya askin me."

"Can we go please? We're all tired and ready for bed sir so if you would continue with your job so we can get to where we intend to stay for the night." Alex's dialect was sharp and to the point but Rain could tell his old speech was taking over.

Alex was born in England a long time ago. And due to that he had picked up the different speech patterns of each time. From the one moment that she'd heard him slip up she'd known exactly when he was born. After all you never hear someone say: Thou hast lost your way...a sheep gone from the sheperd. A quoite he took from a book. He spoke the lines so easily that it was clear his age was well ingrated into him even though he looked like a sixteen year old boy. With a sigh the man walked away and started up the bus.

"Hey mon you better hold on to sumthin!" called a shrunken head from the rear view mirror.

"Huh?" asked danny who was still standing when the bus took off.

Alex and the others were thrown against their seats, Danny went flying into the back of the bus. Alex couldn't surpress the chuckle he gave. This was something he actually liked. The speed of it was remarkable. Although it probably wasn't as fast as he could be. He put it into thought thinking about the velocity of the bus and himself during running. Rain had clocked him once at 199MPH but that didn't mean much. Those abilites were only visible with the use of his powers, the key and a lot of feeding and rest before. Normally it was 134MPH if he wasn't injured, starved, and had slept fairly well. It went down the less he did to sustain his body.

"To be honest sometimes being immortal really...sucks."

"Alex help me!" called Danny as he tried to get up from the floor.

"You should have sat down when we got on the bus dolt." Alex sighed and sunk down in his seat more before crossing one leg over the other, his arms crossed over his chest as he ignored the pleas of the brunette.

"Come on! Where's your kind spirit? Isn't there a good side to you at all?" asked the boy.

"As for now?...Nope. Not a damn thing."

"Meany," said Danny with a pout.

"Just help him up Alex! Making him miserable will not make you feel better right now," said Rain.

"Actually it does make me feel better. At least he can't do anything."

"You really hate me still for doing that? I said I was sorry!" said Danny.

"I'm having a teacher confiscate all of your tricks. If I wake up one morning and I mean just one! With blue, pink, or any other color hair you can think of I will feed you to a dragon."

"Pweas don't...I know I play pranks but I don't know how not to! Because its just like if you were to be a sweet innocent thing like you were when you were a child! It's not possible!" he said.

"If you knew half of what I've been through Danny then you would understand why I'm not who I used to be. But your still staying on the floor until the bus stopps at the pub."

Danny pouted the whole way but it was surprisingly quiet. Alex hadn't had that in ages. As the bus screeched to an impossibly fast stop everyone was once again flung forward – most catching themselves on the seats. Danny however, went flying into the front of the bus only to be stopped by Stan who helped him up. They looked out the window as they grabbed their things. The pub was small, slightly run down, but still looked strudy as it was crushed between two large brick buildings.

"Leaky Caludrun...off ya go see yas soon bye bye!" as they got out with their things the bus took off at high speeds that should have been illegal.

"That...was an experience that I do not really wish to relive," said Kent in a dazed tone.

"Duh!" stated the others as they walked into the pub/Inn.

The entire room fell silent as a bald, near toothless man came forward. He was slightly hunched, and seemed to set the group of odd teenagers off slightly. Naturally the groups fingers twitched for their weapons. Alex knew they had nothing to fear, but it wasn't something that he could help. They were used to walking into a place and an all out war starting, but here there shouldn't have been worry.

"You must be Dumbledore's guests. Please follow me I'll show you to your rooms!" he said.

They followed him up the creaky stares before being directed into rooms that fit two each. Rain and Sena were set together, Lila and June, Jake and Mark, while Kent, Alex, and Danny were put together in a small three roomed one that was the last left. The three beds being singles were placed in odd spots at the bedroom. One at a window the other by the door and the last against the wall near the corner of the room. Alex sat his things down on the bed near the window while the others took the two remaining beds. Kent looked uncomfortable being in the same room with Alex without the others. The two of them had fought before he'd found out about Alex being a vampire. Since then they had fought, but it wasn't the same. Nor was it as physical.

Alex was violent when pushed into a confrontation. As wild as his last name stated. Rouge – something wild, untaimable, and dangerous. That explaiend Alex perfectly. As porcelain doll like in appearance he was, the white haired boy was beyond fragile. Despite his thin frame Alex could take a hit that would kill a man twice his size. As they finished there was a knock at the door and he went over to see Rain standing there. She had told them that Tom – the bartender and Inn keeper – was wanting them to come down and get something to eat before bed. Alex, despite wanting to just sleep and forget this bizzar and completely – at least seemingly- impossible day never happened.

As they sat down however Tom came up with a character that made them raise their heads with a look of curiousity. The man was balding, nicely dressed, and a kind face with stern eyes.

"You are the children Dumbledore invited to Hogwarts this year?" he asked.

"Yes sir." his eyes went over the group. Alex had brought a book down and currently had his head burried in it to -hopefully- keep from being seen. However with his hair it was near impossible to hide.

"And who might you be?" he asked. Clearly he thought that he was an old man – Alex knew he should have dyed his hair.

"Alex Rouge sir." he looked up slightly from the book before putting it down.

"My...how interesting. A magic trick to hide your appearance?" asked the man.

"No, this is his real hair and eye color. Odd one ain't he?" said danny teasingly.

"Danny be quiet!" muttered June.

"Ah I see. May I introduce myself?" he questioned as they nodded.

"I am Corneilus Fudge. The minister of magic, all of you I presume are here to attend Hogwarts as students, I however wanted to address something that is highly important."

"And what would that be sir?" Alex took over the conversation for the time being. The others knew little about the ministry, but he knew enough that they were exactly like the councils – personal gain was their entire reason for existing.

"I will warn you children now...this is not a simple game you have been asked to play. I believe that Dumbledore is senial and only thinks that you can do anything to stop he who must not be named. Your as I said...children. Merlin I bet half of you are no older than Harry Potter fifteen at least sixteen. You need to stay away from this and just go back home," stated Fudge.

"Oh! But sir...where would the fun in that be?" the minister of magic looked startled by Alex's words. The boy was watching with an eerie looking smile on his face one that was by far something he wanted to cross. There was something about this boy that just seem off to him.

"Fun? Boy this is a war that might be starting you realize that don't you?" he asked.

"Perfectly. But do not let our appearances fool you, we are highly capable of handling this. We're just here to observe and watch out for some students. You know...make sure nothing bad comes to them." Alex stated this with a calm air that suited someone far older than his appearance.

Corneilus Fudge had seen many a great thing as the Minster Of Magic. But this boy took first place. As fragile and pretty as he was there was a slightly sinister and dark aura about him that told the man this child was one to not be messed with. Perhaps now though, would be the time to watch them. He sighed and nodded his head.

"Very well may I at least have your names?" he questioned.

"Rain Hawkins." the blackish brown haired girl said as her green eyes showed a gilter of life in them. He smiled and looked to the others.

"Alex Rouge." The white haired boy who had been speaking with him seemed to give a faint grin. Cattish and knowing something that still bothered him.

"Danny Harrelson!" the exuberent brunette stated smiling widely. He was very energetic. The minister would agree to that.

"June Morgan," stated the honey blonde.

"Kent Wiles." the pale copper brunette stated as he watched the man. He seemed to be a person who was highly tense. He hoped he'd loosen up some.

"Lila Jones." a pale blonde with pink dyed bangs and the ends of her hair done the same waved to him. Her cornflower blue eyes sparkling as she smiled.

"Mark Estburg sir," the coco brunette of the group was nervously fixing his glasses. He noted that Harry did the same thing from time to time. When he'd met Harry Potter the boy would at times fiddle with his glasses.

"Jake Daniels. Nice to meet you!" another rowdy person he supposed that the boy was excited to start an adventure.

"Sena Anders." the asian looking girl was pretty and seemed to be close to Alex. Her long black hair was straight, hit at her upper thighs and was done in two twin ponytails. She had deep warm chocolate colored eyes and a warm welcoming feeling to her.

"Nice to meet all of you...please don't make me regret this. Well I'll let you eat and rest and I will hear about all of you soon. Goodbye," he said as he left. The teenagers waved at him.

After their little meeting with the minister of magic the group set to finding something to eat from the small choices they had. Danny looked down the list of foods and grimaced. He didn't know what haggis was and didn't want to know. Alex wasn't looking at the menu simply flipping through a book. Since when did Alex not read something? He hadn't seen him without a book in years. If he got board he found something to read.

Danny knew that Alex wasn't a talkitve person, in fact he was the most quiet person he had ever known. He'd known the white haired boy for seven years now and still he couldn't get over the fact that Alex kept so much to himself. He couldn't stand to keep something that was bothering him silent, but the other boy just suffered through it whether it was minimal or great. He sighed and looked down at a list of soups. Pea soup sounded good.

"I think I'll get pea soup," he said thinking out loud.

"Just eat it before it eats you okay?" Danny looked to Tom who smiled at him.

"W-what? The food can eat you?" he asked in surprise.

"Yes. That might be why your friend there desided to avoid food in general. How he can though I haven't the faintest clue. Does he eat well? He looks a bit thin." the Inn keeper sounded worried but it caused Rain to giggle a bit.

"He's fine. Alex is really slight of build so it's not a problem. He eats less than we do but he can go a long time without it," she said.

"I suppose but...what is he exactly?" Tom looked to the white haired boy who was leaned back in a chair reading near the fireplace. In his lap was the list of things they'd need for school.

"He's human," said June.

"Don't try and fool me. I know a non-human when I see one. Just what is he though?" he looked a bit uncomfortable. Even though Alex clearly wasn't paying an ounce of attention to him and was more intrested in the book that June had found on Hogwarts school.

"I'm a vampire," came the reply from the boy near the fireplace as he flipped a page.

"Vampire? What is Dumbledore thinking?" he looked to the others who smiled nervously.

"Nothing to worry about. Alex is really good around people and magic," said Sena to reassure him.

"For Merlin's sake! How can I believe that?"

"I haven't went wild and hurt anyone have I? Believe me if you will but I have a tolerence for magic,"

"V-very well. I'll get your food so all of you can get to bed."

the rest of their night consisted of Danny fighting the pea soup – and winning- loud, comical chatter. June bashing Kent and Jake over the head with three books each. Finally after their eventful evening they turned in for the night. Kent was back to feeling uncomfortable being in the same room as Alex. The white haired boy was currently tugging off his uniform jacket and the shirt under it. That was the first time that he saw the mark on his shoulder. It was black, a crescent moon with a star. To perfected to be a birthmark. He caught Alex looking at him and turned around quickly.

He heard a sigh and the sound of fabric moving before he glanced over to see the other boy had pulled on a dark blue long sleeve shirt and was sitting on the bed flipping through the book again. Alex didn't look as threatening as he normally did. In this invoroment Alex looked just like a normal person. Minus his hair and eye color he still was just a teenage boy.

He finished changing and noted that Alex had put his uniform jacket out with his normal clothes for the next day. The boy didn't not have the uniform jacket with him ever. True Rain had hit him over the head once before and forced him into a warmer coat for the arctic circle. It was a comical site but Alex seemed fairly comfortable. His lithe form didn't have any real fat on it. Mostly lean muscle and very pale skin. He looked healthy though, a bit thin but healthy. Alex glanced over to him and sighed.

"I'll put it in the suitcase. No one needs to know that we're from the order of the rose."

"Okay. I just...assumed that you were going to keep it on tomorrow you do a lot," Kent said.

"It's to risky. The others were going to come up with that idea of wearing it but while on our ride over we all decided that it would be better if we didn't."

"Good plan. Well goodnight, I hope you sleep well," he stated as he climbed into his bed near the door.

"Goodnight."

It was a few minutes later that Kent glanced over at Alex who was already fast asleep. The boy tended to sleep lightly so going over to see what he was reading was out of the question. But he had seend the title earlier: Hogwarts A History was written on the front in scrawling silver. Kent sighed and rolled over to the side facing away from the others. Why did the other boy make him feel so frightened. Alex was intimidating but Sena wasn't scared of him. In fact the two of them were closer than ever after that little accident two months ago. He hadn't remembered being so scared.

Alex had taken a hit for her that would have killed Sena in seconds. The board sword had caught him in the chest and damaged his heart but he was surpisingly well off. He had gotten up and ran with her despite loosing a great amount of blood and being ran through he'd saved her and done so much after that. He'd taken great care in making sure that the girl was unharmed and safe before he couldn't keep himself up any longer and then collapsed. Sena hadn't stopped taking care of him until he opened his eyes which was nearly a month later.

"They're so close now. Sena's so dear to him and he treats her like she's a crown jewel. I want to be able to trust him to like she does. I hate feelilng like I have to be scared of my friend and comrade."

With that thought in mind Kent drifted off to sleep. The next morning everyone was downstairs packed and ready to go while also sitting at the table. Most were drowsily sipping coffee while others were watching Jake and Danny have a duel with forks. Alex kicked them both under the table and caused them both to drop the silverwear to the floor. Smiling innocently at them he went back to the book. He would be sure to study the information. Anything that had to do with the ins and outs of that castle would be a valuble aid to them. They all were shaked out of their silence when a hulking laugh came from behind them.

The group turned to see none other than the keeper of keys and grounds of Hogwarts school. At first they were on guard until the man smiled kindly at them. Despite his grand stature he looked to be a rather gentle man. He shouldered a flowerly pink umbrella and grinned at them as he held out a letter to Rain.

"Rubius Hagrid keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts and care of magical creatures professor, nice te meet cha," he said.

"Nice to meet you too Hagrid."

"I heard tat all of yous need your things so lets get goin' I'll have ya ready to go soon if ya want ta we can go and get da robes and wands firs okey?" he said.

"Sounds good. We're done here anyways. Tom we'll be back sometime soon okay?" Rain looked to the man who nodded.

The group was led back to the small alleyway where he tapped a few times on the brick. The group could only watch in awe as the wall opened up into another bustling street full of owls, colorful people selling items on the street, stores and bats hanging amongst them. Cats running about and mice following not far behind. Looking up Alex saw the first one that they were heading to. Gringotts Wizarding bank. Somewhere in that book they had talked about goblins.

"Welcome every to Diagon Alley. Our firs stop is Gringotts...de wizarding bank!" Hagrid said as they were led into the building.

It was snowy white, tall, and impossibly imposing. As they entered the building though they were caught by a golden plaque that read a warning to all thieves it stated:

Enter, stranger, but take heed Of what awaits the sin of greed, for those who take, but do not earn, Must pay most dearly in their turn. So if you seek beneath our floors A treasure that was never yours, Theif, you have been warned, beware Of finding more than treasure there.

With a small shiver from most they followed Hagrid up to a small ugly looking thing. No taller than possibly two or three feet and wearing a scowl. He pushed none other than the white haired boy up towards him who gave over the money Rowan had given each of them. They were to exchange it there and once the Goblin looked down Alex's wrists were snatched.

"Let me go!" Hagrid glared at the Goblin who looked into the white haired boy's red eyes.

"Hmm...nasty thing you are...I don't trust your kind," stated the Goblin.

"Neither do I yours now let me go!" Alex pulled trying to get lose but the little fiend held tighter to his wrists. Alex could feel a feral hiss rising in his throat and felt ready to brutally mutilate the little creature.

"You must be rather well "trained" to not attack a former wizard and not feel a desire to kill me," he said.

"Oh believe me I wish nothing more than to kill you right now but I have more important things to deal with so I will say it once more...Let...Me...Go!" Alex gouged his claws into the little creatures arms causing it to let go and him to jump back.

"Damned immortals! You all think you can do as you please! Do your business Hagrid and get that abomination out of our bank!" said the Goblin.

"Alex are you okay?" asked Sena.

"I'm fine. Goblins and vampires don't really like each other. We haven't since the Ariem war." the boy glared and the little beast returned it.

"I warned you once I'll do it twice stay away from my place! You are no better than that disgusting father of yours! Feral and filthy beasts in human flesh. The ministry should have found you and put you down at birth!" the Goblin had read the boy's memories when he grasped him by the wrists. It was a fearful realization that there was one of them still around. And he looked so much like him too.

Hagrid did the rest for the others before ushering them quickly out of the bank. The man then looked to Alex and checked his wrists. They were bruised but healing quickly. By tomorrow there would hardly be a single mark there. Sighing he led them back into the street where Mark pulled out his list of school items.

"The uniforms for students," he read aloud.

"Three sets of plain work robes (black)." Rain spoke from her list.

"One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar) One winter cloak (black, silver fasteninigs). Pleas note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags," June said with a raised eyebrow.

"Das just de firs' set read over de course books fer me please. While you are getting your robes I'll go and get cha yur books," said Hagrid.

"Okay um...all students should have a copy of each of the following: The standard book of spells (grade 5) by Miranda Goshawk, A History Of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot...wait a minute...what kidn of name is that?" asked Danny.

"Oh there are others." Alex took the list from Mark and looked it over.

" Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling, One thousand magical herbs and fungi by Phyllida Spore, Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger, The Monster book Of Monsters by Edwardus Lima, The dark forces: A Guide To Self-protection by Quentin Trimble," Alex called off and handed the list back to Mark.

"You don't find those names weird?" he asked.

"Nope. I grew up when there was odder names than those trust me."

"Okay I'll go and get ya yer books and meet ya at Ollivander's," he said.

As they walked on to their next stop Danny was laughing at all the names of the authors. Who would name their kids those kinds of names? Then again he hadn't thought on it but Alex did say there were wierder names than the ones they'd heard but what? That reminded him, he didn't ever ask what Alex's full name was. For all he knew his middle name could be something that was twice as funny. They walked into Madam Malkin's robes for all occasions and were stopped by a blonde haired boy who was standing in the doorway. He stepped aside and let them all pass but Sena who was nearly tripped. Alex caught her and pushed the boy out of the way before leading her to the inner part of the store where the others were.

"Welcome to Madam Malkin's robes for all occasions...let me guess Hogwarts?" she asked they nodded.

"What year?"

"Fifth."

"Alright dears lets get the ladies out of the way then we'll take care of you young men," she said as she set to work.

Sena and the girls were slightly pleased to find that their uniforms were skirts. At the same time though they were annoyed that unlike the order's female uniforms they didn't have shorts under them. If they got into a fight they they would have limited movement. Sena sighed and thought that least they were short enough that they wouldn't be tripping.

Once she was done with the girls she set to work on the boys. They were given patches that were the four houses and were to sew the crest of the house they were in onto their uniforms. They paid for the uniforms and set out when they brushed pass the boy again. Not wanting to talk to him they hurried on to the next shop. Eeylops Owl Emporium. Trick slipped out while Hagrid came up and handed the books – bagged thankfully- to each of them. At this point with their arms starting to get piled up June and Danny were giving Alex desperate looks as they stood in front of the pet shop.

"I'm not doing it." they pouted.

"Oh come on! You can cast a shrinking charm by just touch! Shadowwood never taught you anything more useful please Alex!" said Danny.

"Iksnae on the school ae and magic ae!" with that Alex walked forward Trick looking at the items that most had managed to shove into the backpacks they brought.

"I hate pig latin," muttered Danny.

"You too?" said June in defeat.

As soon as they walked into the building though Hagrid grinned and showed them a few trollies that they thankfully could put their things in. as soon as it was done the group dispersed and Trick settled on Alex's shoulder. His little wings folded against his body. Hagrid looked down at the bat and raised an eyebrow at the two of them. Students weren't supposed to have bats but it was so little that it shouldn't have caused a problem.

"I think yer surpossed to get you a cat er a owl," Hagrid said.

"Trick is a close friend I suppose. And he's more than a pet." the bat fluttered to the top of his master's snow head and looked up.

"Hello sir!" Trick said.

"Blimey it talks!"

"Trick is a familiar and I'd rather not give him up," Alex said.

"A'right I don' see nuthin' wrong with em'"

Rain ended up with a cat like Sena and Lila. June got a tawny colored owl, Danny a cat, Kent, and Jake ended with owls. Mark settled on the cat as well. As they paid for them and headed out Sena smiled down at the white kitten. She smiled when it jumped onto Alex's shoulder. He looked down at it and picked it up before scratching it behind the ear. It gave a little meow and he handed it back to Sena who cuddled with it.

"What did you name it Sena?" asked Lila who was holding her kitten who was a golden color with white markings.

"Gray." she giggled when she saw Alex's look of surprise.

"But its white!" said Danny.

"Silly...Gray is Alex's middle name," she said when the kitten once again jumped onto Alex's shoulder and burrowed itself into his jacket with Trick who began talking to it.

"Trick shut up it might eat you!" the bat instantly went to Alex's outer jacket pocket.

"Gray huh? That's simple," said Danny.

"Tell that to my father he's the one who named me."

A'right to Ollivander's!"Hagrid led the way and they slipped into the building.

It was an old building that read on the top: Ollivander's makers of fine wands since 382 B.C. Alex had smiled at that. Finally something in there that wasn't as old as him. As they stopped the man came out from the back carrying multiple boxes. He looked them over and smiled. The man laid the wands out in a straight line on the crowded desk and motioned for the first to come forward. Not a singel one moved. With a slight sigh he looked to them.

"I am mister Ollivander and I suppose you are here to get wands for school?" he asked. They nodded.

"Young girl there come and lets find you a wand," he said as Rain stepped forward.

"Just don't aim it at us Rain!" Danny laughed as the little black kitten Rain had taken in circled him and then latched onto his leg and began to climb. The laugh turned into a yelp and the white kitten sticking it's little head out of Alex's jacket mewed as if it was lauging with the others.

"I suppose you shouldn't insult their master huh?" he asked as he grabbed the cat by the scruff of its neck. It took swipes at him.

"If it could just talk I'd be set," Rain said as she took the wand.

"Ten inches, oak and unicorn hair. Give it a wave."

she did and five boxes flew off the shelf. She handed it back and was given another one. eight inches, holly and dragon heartstring. It set off green sparks and she smiled. After Rain was taken care of he went to Lila who's was a beachwood and unicorn horn. The bright pink that shot from it made her smile. June's was pine, thirteen inches with fairy wing in it that shot out a golden spark after two tries she got hers followed by Sena.

"Mahogany, twelve inches, with an unusual core...it has vampire blood as its core," she waved it and black and white shot out the end. Sena glanced at Alex who shrugged and waited for him to be called forward. He gave the cat to her and looked to the girls who were looking over their wands.

"Alright next!" he said as he pulled Danny forward.

"Oak, fourteen inches, dragon scale."

the left side of the shop blew up in a rainfall of boxes of wands. Danny handed it back and took the next one. It was Cherry wood, eight inches, good for charms, with a gotokuneko hair core. The orange sparks made him smile. Of course it would work for him, his bloodline had that creatures leniage in it. Mark was easy getting a mapple, seven inches, whippy wand with a dragon heartstring. Kent's was ash, nine inches, with a dragon scale core. Jake's was a red cedar one with a unicorn hair core at six inches it was a rather short but nice wand.

"That leaves you I believe Mr. Rouge," the man said with a smile.

The wands didn't agree with Alex at all. They were twelve in when ironically -lucky number thirteen – proudced a shower of blood red sparks. The wand maker watched him closely before tapping his chin for a moment. Alex looked at the solid black wand in his hand. It was glassy black and smoothe. The item felt cold in his hand.

"Thirteen inches, elder with a blood pheonix and death pheonix feather core. Interesting, no one has ever fitted that wand once. I suppose it suits a vampire best," Ollivander stated.

"Yes sir." they paid for their wands and pocketed them before dashing out of the store. Alex didn't feel comfortable in there any longer and niether did the others. Now that they were far enough away they decided that it was getting late and they should get their things back in their room so they could pack and be ready for the next day.

"Okay do we have everything?" asked Mark.

"Yes I think so. Lets head back and get sorted so we can get on the train tomorrow okay?"

They headed back to the inn what would await them though was something that they hadn't expected. Knowing that it would be in front of Dumbledore and his deputy headmistress was nerve racking the thought that it would decide whether or not they would be put together or not was a good question.
