She was absolutely the tiniest girl he'd ever seen. Certainly, she was the smallest woman he'd ever been so instantly attracted to. While the man named Nick Cutter talked, he tuned him out and focused mainly on the pair behind him. Abby and Connor.

Becker could tell by the look on Connor's face that he feels he's already staked his claim. He'd never try to get with a woman who already had a boyfriend, but if they're not dating... Well, he'll feel her out and then go from there. He caught her eye and smiles and when she smiles back, one eyebrow raised, he knew that she would be the one. He would go above and beyond the call of duty to protect this girl.

After a few weeks, and several devastating losses, he walked up to Abby and touched her shoulder, stepping back when she spun around in a defensive position. "Sorry, Abby. Just me."

She smiled and patted his chest. "Don't scare me, yeah? You're likely to get a kick in the arse if you do."

He laughed. "Hey, some of the guys were getting together to go out to eat and I wanted to know if you'd like to join me. Well, us, but..." He shrugged a bit, waiting for her reaction.

She smiled again, only this time the smile was softer and more thoughtful. "Becks, I'd almost think you were asking me on a date, if the rest of the guys weren't going. Or are you trying to get me alone to get some pointers on asking Sarah out?"

He frowned. "No. I. Sarah and me? Really?"

"Connor and I were discussing it and he thinks you like her. He's not happy about it, to be honest. I thought he'd never get over his crush on me, but he likes her a lot. So... do you like her too?"

"No." He smiled a little. Connor was definitely out of the way now, which was a definite bonus as far as Becker was concerned. "I like someone else."

"Jenny's not over Nick." Abby looked up at him, a hint of warning in her eyes.

"I'm not interested in Jenny." He leaned in closer, waiting for her eyes to light up in that way they did when she got something. When he saw that look, he grinned and closed the distance, kissing her. "So, forget the guys. We can have dinner with them anytime. How 'bout you and I..."

"Dinner only, Becks," she murmured, leaning up to kiss him again. "You've got to work to get me in bed."

He laughed and kissed her, picking her up easily. She wrapped her legs around his waist and they both laughed, continuing to kiss until the alarm sounded and off they went on another adventure.
