Hermione watched in terror. Red sparks flared up out of the maze. "C'mon Harry," she quietly pleaded. Professor Flitwick came out of the maze carrying Fleur. Moment later another shot of sparks came out. Professor Snape carried Viktor out of the maze. Hermione's eyes stayed locked in the sky with hopes to see no more red.

Harry ran around a corner. Behind him, Cedric become ensnared by vies from the maze's walls. Hesitant, Harry turned and helped him. Then he raced to the cup, which turned out to be a port key. Not sure what to do, Cedric shot up red flares. Moments later, Harry returned severely beaten and nearly unconscious.

Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore show up carrying Cedric and Harry. Hermione and Ron run down from the stands to be by Harry's side. Cedric explained what he had seen. Tears fell from Hermione's eyes; her heart ached.

Harry lay in the Hospital wing. His eyes blinked open to see Hermione with tear stained cheeks and with fresh ones ready to fall.
