Chase wasn't quite sure how it happened, but it had. No, not his relationship with House. He knew how, why, and that they loved one another. It was how everyone else had come to know about it. Nobody knew: not Cuddy, Wilson, or the other ducklings. House had been very convinced that the whole thing needed to stay a secret. Now, as he walked down the hallway he felt the uncertain glances tossed his way. He hated the feeling; though he hated the whispers more. The guys were as bad as the women with gossiping. And since this was a huge step into the 'locker room no no's' territory, the guys were hit a bit harder than the female employees. As he walked, Chase tuned everything out. After all, he'd learned to do that when his mother used to go on her tirades. He turned his mind from this, frantically trying to think of anything other than ugly memories. He was so busy, in fact, that the light thump of the cane and the uneven gait coming up behind him weren't heard. When a hand slipped into his, he jumped, but recovered quickly, squeezing back gratefully.

Chase might have not seen this coming, but House did. He was used to doing everything with a dramatic flair, but to be fair to his—well, his fiancé, he acted casually. Obviously the 'secret' getting out bothered him. House had done his best to delay the 'coming out' aspect at work. He waited until they were both committed. Though he hadn't leaked the information on purpose, it had been a casual admittance to Cameron that he was seeing someone and had been, even when they had gone on their one date (he told her it was okay-d by Chase).
Cameron asked about why, then, had Chase slept with her—House shrugged and trudged away. It wasn't until later that he realized he should have asked Chase if now would be a good time to come out. Oops. He would fix it later. He hobbled up behind Chase (who was looking lonely walking down the hallway) and grabbed hold of his hand. It was best to confirm the rumours. Yet House knew the real reason was all because he needed to know that his lover was still with him. They exchanged a glance. House flashed him a tense smile, and then continued as if nothing was amiss.
