Dream Flight

Listen now and listen well

I have a story, a story to tell.

When the sun goes down, its rays are gone

I always think of that night once upon

Asleep was the world, asleep for the night

I began dreaming under the pale moonlight

I was in flower forest with the roses up to the sky.

And as I admired he flew by.

He was red like rubies and he held true grace.

He was the most beautiful thing in this magical place.

And his sapphire orbs held my eye

He bowed once and said, "Do you wish to fly?"

I smiled and nodded and he took my hand

And a way we flew, up and over this land.

We flew through the mountains and over the hills

We flew through the flowers, through tulips and daffodils.

We danced through the sky unaware of the sun

Unaware that the dream was just about done.

"I shall miss you, my friend" I said "What times we have had!"

"We have a good time," He said, "I've never been so glad!"

We hugged goodbye and the dream died away

I awoke to the morning sun, it was the next day

My heart was joyful, yet my head in wonder

Who was that creature? The thought was loud and boomed like thunder.

The question is unanswered, and remains in my head

Because now as I lay in my bed

I have dreamless nights, no flying for me

Though I always still think of him, him flying free.

There is no end to this story, for the show must go on

I still wait for the dream, and I start to day dream at dawn

Of the red flying boy who gave me a fantasy flight

And the only ones who remember are him, I, and the soft moonlight.
