Well, my sis has been down lately about stuff, so I decided to write a oneshot about her favorite pairing to cheer her up a little. I hope she likes it, along with everyone else who may read it! Please R&R!
Neji had finally done it. He had broken down and begged TenTen to marry him. The two had been euphorically happy during their honeymoon. Neji smiled as he closed his photo album.
It had been a year since the happy couple had returned to Konoha to settle into their new lifestyle, and the novelty of marriage had nearly worn off. This worried Neji, who twiddled his thumbs while trying to figure out a way to put the spark back in his marriage. He had made reservations at a nice restaurant for that night, but he didn't know if TenTen would be pleased. It was becoming harder and harder to make her happy these days.
"It's been a year, Neji!" Naruto had exclaimed the other day. Naruto was not the best person to go to for marriage advice. However, Neji knew that Naruto had been married far longer than him. "A year! Your trial has just begun."
"Trial…?" Neji had asked incredulously. "What trial?"
"After about a year has passed…" Naruto began cryptically. "Women begin asking you 'dangerous questions…' Questions like: "Does this dress make me look fat? Tell me the truth." And things like that. I'll warn you Neji, my friend, there is no right answer!" and with the last three words, Naruto's voice dropped to a whisper.
Neji burst out laughing. "Naruto," he choked. "TenTen would never care about a question like that. She's different from Sakura."
"Not very," Naruto mused. "Women are all the same. Mark my words, Neji. All men know that there has never been a correct answer to these 'questions.' If you were the man to find a 'right' answer…why, you could be the Chosen One! A pinnacle for men worldwide! It'd be a miracle." And Neji had shaken his head and walked home.
The front door opened suddenly, halting Neji's trip down memory lane. He stood quickly to embrace the woman that walked through. "TenTen," he smiled. "I've made a reservation at that restaurant down the street. Just the two of us."
TenTen gave him a small smile and nodded. "I'll get dressed, then." She said. "I'm in a good mood today." She kissed his cheek and walked into the bedroom. Neji followed her. Plopping down on the bed, he watched as TenTen undressed and studied herself in the mirror. Abruptly, she turned to face Neji, who diverted his eyes from her bosom so as not to come across as a pervert.
"Neji," she paused. "Tell me the truth. Are my boobs too small?"
'The "trials!"' Neji thought, panicking. 'Naruto was right!' The world had crashed down around his ears. 'The truth…she wants the truth…but I can't tell her that I think they're small, she'll kill me!'
"Neji…" TenTen prompted him for an answer.
"Well, I don't mind their smallness…" Neji replied, instantly regretting his words. 'Crap.'
"So you do think they're small then, hmm?" she glared.
In this moment, Neji was fighting for his life. He made a daring maneuver.
"Yes," he replied, walking over to her and leaning his head casually against his wife's chest. "But I like that."
"How so…?" TenTen asked, glowering.
"Well, I can be closer to your heart that way." He blurted. Neji closed his eyes and waited for doom, but it never came.
"Neji, you're so sweet." TenTen murmured, running her fingers through his hair affectionately. "Now I remember why I married you."
Neji paused for a moment. 'Well, Naruto…' he thought. 'It looks like I am the Chosen One. A pinnacle for men worldwide. I guess miracles do happen now and again…'
