Alrighty people…these are three ways that Ron and Hermione could have gotten together before lavender or any of that nonsense…most parts are actually moments between Ron and Hermione in HBP with added things from me.

(Starting from Pg 299 US Edition)

"You know perfectly well what we're talking about!" said Hermione shrilly. "You spiked Ron's juice with lucky potion at breakfast! Felix Felicis!"

"No, I didn't." said Harry, turning back to face them both.

"Yes you did, Harry. Ron's mind was set on the game this morning, so the potion made the Quidditch outcome good! That's why everything went right, there were Slytherin players missing, you caught the snitch even when Harper was ahead of you, and…"

"I didn't put it in!" said Harry, grinning broadly. He slipped his hand inside his jacket pocket and drew out the tiny bottle that Hermione had seen in his hand that morning. It was full of golden potion and the cork was still tightly sealed with wax. "I wanted Ron to think I'd done it, so I faked it when I knew you were looking." He looked at Ron. "You saved everything because you felt lucky. You did it all yourself."

He pocketed the potion again.

"There really wasn't anything in my pumpkin juice?" Ron said, astounded. "But the weather's good…and Vaisey couldn't play…. I honestly haven't been given lucky potion?"

Harry shook his head. Ron gaped at him for a moment, then turned to walk out of the changing rooms somewhat halfheartedly and said, "Come on then, we'll head up to the party…more reason for us to celebrate."

Harry was surprised that Ron wasn't happier. He stayed behind to clean up while Ron and Hermione walked back up the grounds toward the castle.

-Meanwhile-

Ron and Hermione were walking up the grounds in an uncomfortable silence. Some people patted Ron on the back as Hermione and him made their way through the crowd. Finally, Hermione turned to Ron.

"I err, never said congratulations. So, congratulations!"

"Yeah you were too busy accusing Harry of something he didn't even do…" he muttered.

"Well, you thought he did too! Just because I was the only one who had enough guts to say it! What's wrong with you anyways!" at this, Hermione stopped in her tracks, "You've been horrid to me for a long time now, and I can't see any reason for that behavior…so tell me now, why?"

"We shouldn't be stopping like this…lets go to the party, people are waiting." Ron mumbled, looking very red indeed.

"No. I finally said what I needed to say, and I'm not moving until you answer me."

Ron mumbled unintelligibly, and turned to walk back to the castle on his own. Hermione grabbed his arm and said, "No! I want know exactly what I did wrong!"

Ron looked straight at her with an unexplainable emotion in his eyes. Her hand was still clutching his arm as he leaned in and kissed her.

She dropped her hand as he wrapped his arms around her waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck. After several long moments, they broke apart. They both looked at each other speechlessly for a moment before setting up to the castle hand in hand.

"That answer will suffice," stated Hermione plainly, "for now."

Harry stood not so far behind and did a celebratory air punch.

AN/ I was going to add this one thing to the story, but I forgot. The reason that Ron is somewhat unhappy about not having the lucky potion is because he thought that he would use his newfound luck to ask Hermione out. He didn't feel as confident when he found out that it was a fluke, so he was a bit let down.
