Inevitability

She turned her back on the fighting pair not wanting to face the truth. It was bad enough seeing them taunt each other but she couldn't help but see the intimacy even as they fought each other.
What made it worse was the memory of the woman's face from across the dance. Not the face of the woman who actually had her husband's heart but was happy to settle for his body. But the face of the woman who had seen this coming.
She had always respected her, hell she'd tried to steal an election for her but she had feared her for almost as long.
"I want you to remember two things, one; you killed him – even before those bullets did you ripped out his heart and stomped all over it. And secondly, you cheated; I want you to remember that so that when he cheats on you, which he will do or he will leave you, you'll know that it is the least you deserve. You see I know it, the Admiral knows it, the whole frakkin' ship knows it. It's just Starbuck and Apollo who don't. Enjoy your evening Lieutenant Dualla."
Shakily she had answered, "Thank you Madame President."
She'd refused to believe that Lee would do something like that. He and Starbuck were just rumours and pilot tension surely. But it wasn't it was here in front of her face and she knew that Roslin had known. There was no-one she could turn to for solace for they were all thinking the same,
"You cheated and look how that ended."
