Lily and Sev are 10 in this story.

Lily giggled, pulling Sev into the milkshake shop.

'Lily, what are we doing here?' Sev said nervously, looking around the pink room. There were tall chairs along the sides.

'It's just opened, my mum said to try it out.' She eyed the list of milkshakes happily, 'I'm getting coco pops flavour.' Lily announced, as if she was announcing that she had taken over the world at last. Sev smiled at her.

'I don't know what to get- I'm not even sure I can afford any.' Sev sighed, looking at the meagre amount of coins in his hands.

'Don't worry, I'll lend you some.' Lily said absentmindedly. Lily ordered her milkshake, and went to find one of the few seats in the shop. She handed Sev some money as she passed him, and found them some seats.

Sev stepped up, feeling unsure. He had never had enough money to buy anything before-his father had made sure of that.

'Can I have Kitkat flavour, please.' he murmured, unsure.

'Of course, that's £2.' Sev handed the girl £2.'Thank you.'

Sev went to join Lily. She had received her milkshake, but was waiting for Sev to get his. She smiled at him as he sat down.

He took a minute to take her in, her bright eyes, her auburn hair, she was perfect, and she was HIS best friend, not any of those snobby neighbourhood people. He felt lucky. He would never lose her Lily- he would make sure of that.

His milkshake arrived, and he took a sip- it tasted like Kitkats. At that moment, he felt nothing could go wrong.

'Oh, look Sev!' Lily exclaimed suddenly,' we can leave notices on this board! Look at all these, let's do one.' She looked so happy, he couldn't refuse.

Lily turned to ask for a pen, while Sev looked at the messages. There were lots like 'Jane and Brian forever!' and such, and a few random notices about concerts and interior design.

Lily returned with some paper and pen.

'What shall we write?' he asked. Sev took the pen and wrote down a simple message. Lily smiled and drew heats surrounding it. They pinned it up, and read it again.
